The ATA Tiger program was developed specifically for preschool age children ages 2 through 6.

Not only does this

program offer children a strong foundation in essential character qualities such as courtesy, respect, and discipline, but
also provides a relational point students can identify with through the use of colorful characters. In addition, our
teaching is designed to improve children’s motor skills and enhance their ability to pay attention and follow directions.

Why Revise The Tiger Program?

As time passes, we become more advanced in understanding the many ways children learn and develop. Engagement is
a key component of building a lasting connection with pre-school and kindergarten aged children. The current Tiny Tiger
program, while effective required a new component that would allow Tiger students to feel more engaged with the
program and provide strong visual cues to help them align with their achievements and goals. The use of the new Tiger
characters provides a relational point students can identify with and gives a new platform on which to teach the
traditional Songahm curriculum. This also creates a distinctive program specifically for the Tiger age group, so their
move to Karate for Kids feels like a strong transition to the next level program. In addition to incorporating animated
characters the program name has been changed from Tiny Tigers to ATA Tigers. This change was made to address the
aspirational mindset of young children by not defining them as “tiny” and focus on the empowerment of being a “tiger.”

Tiger Characters
The center focus of the new ATA Tigers Program are the Tiger characters. Each character has a distinctive personality
that can be used to help teach life lessons to Tiger students. Below is the name of each Tiger character with the name
meaning and corresponding personalities.

Ara – Means of the sea: Shy, sweet, innocent

Baeoh – Means of the Flying Tiger, fun outgoing, a good friend to have

Cheeri – Means to defend: smart, strict very hard on herself

Raon – Means active, lion: athletic, strong competitive

Suri – Means eagle: self conscience about his size, works very hard, wants to please

Choa – Means light the world: pretty, outgoing, stronger than she gives herself credit for

Mir – Means dragon: intelligent, a little nerdy, loyal

Narsha – Means flying high, strong will, self confident, determined

Baron – Means right: born leader, physical and mentally fit, might lean towards too serious sometimes.

Star Tag

Just like in the Karate for Kids program, ATA Tigers have their own unique reward system through the use of Star Tags.
Stars can be earned in the same way as the Karate for Kids program, with slight modifications in recognition of the
preschool age of the child. Five different colored Star Tags are available to accommodate all the stars that can be earned
by a high achieving ATA Tiger.

White – 0-25 stars

Blue – 26-50 stars
Red – 51-75 stars
Black – 76-100 stars
Gold – 100+

This means that parents will no longer have to sew on stars! We will continue to keep track of the stars they earn on the
charts at the front desk – but they will also be able to take their card home, show grandparents, etc!

Other Important Info
Ordering ATA Tiger Items

We will not be stocking most items in our Pro Shop. To order ATA Tiger items you will need to order them before
testing. When we order the belts we will also order the ATA Tiger items at that time. We have a package that you can
order which includes the Life Skills Book, the Stuffed Animal and the Rank T-Shirt for only $34. (Save $5). You may pay
for this at any point in the testing cycle, but we will only be ordering the ATA items at testing.

Uniform/Belt Transition

You do not have to buy an ATA Tiger uniform. We hope that everyone does as it will allow for a much more consistent
look, but we understand that not everyone may be able to get one at this time.

We apologize that not all students on Trials were given ATA Tiger uniforms, unfortunately the uniforms came in later
than we expected.

If you order a uniform by September 5th it will only be $20! Save more than 30%!

At this time we only have 000 and 00 sized uniforms in stock. We will be ordering size 0 and 1 as soon as they are
available.

ATA has had some difficulty in keeping items in stock since the release of this program in July. So some items may be
out of stock/some sizes. Please bear with us through this transition. Items like the Turtle White belts are especially hard
to get right now. We will continue to check with ATA and get them to everyone as quickly as possible!

Testing Fees

With the release of this new program testing fees will be changing to $49 like the Karate for Kid and Adult programs.
Students will now be in ATA’s Tiger program and receive the new ATA Tiger Certificates!

We are very excited about this new program! We hope that it will create more excitement for the students and know
that it will be a great opportunity to focus more on Life Skills! Thank you for your patience as we make this transition. If
you have any questions/concerns about any of these changes please don’t hesitate to ask myself or any other staff
member.

Sincerely,

Joey Overby
