 Introduction : Background to the Study
• This report is represented by 10 students of Faculty of Computers and informatics,
Benha University under the leadership of Dr.Hassan. We are going to describe or
explain the PA studies on medical software project on “The Future Hospital” and this
project name is “Medical Software Project”. There are some points that we
focus on In this presentation :

Medical Hardware

IV. explaining the Risks that faces this project.

 What is Medical Software?
• a medical software is any system or item used within a medical field or context such
as
• Standalone software used with diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.
• Software that drives a medical device or determines how it is used.
• Software that acts as an accessory to medical device.
• Software used in the design, production, and testing of a medical device , etc.
• History:
• Medical software has been in use since at least since the 1960s a
time when the first computerized information-handling system
in the hospital sphere was being considered by Lockheed. There
are types of Medical Software such as :
• Medical Simulation Technology
• Medical Database Software • Medical Equipment Planning Software
• Medical Diagnostic Software

• Medical device(Medical Hardware) is any apparatus, appliance, material, or other
article—whether used alone or in combination, including the software intended by its
manufacturer to be used specifically for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purposes and
necessary for its proper application—intended by the manufacturer to be used for
human beings.
• A medical device with out a software or a program ,that makes it works efficiently,
can’t be useful. Also, A software without hardware or device can’t be useful. So, the
relationship between Medical Software and Hardware is truly strong.
• Examples of Software and hardware :
• Software that relies on data from a medical device, but does not have a medical
purpose, e.g., software that encrypts data for transmission from a medical device.
• Software that enables clinical communication and workflow including patient
registration, scheduling visits, voice calling, and video calling.

• Cardiac monitoring : which refers to continuous or intermittent monitoring of heart activity
and helps to discover cardiac arrhythmias and other heart conditions that may be present and
to help determine heart health. AliveCor’s Kardia Mobile : is
a modern device used to measure the heart rate and cardiac
rhythm with AliveCor’s application via wireless connection it
can be used on phone.
• Hemodialysis System: commonly called kidney dialysis or
simply dialysis, is a process of purifying the blood of a person whose
kidneys are not working normally. Aurgia made the software for this
machine as it is one of the Pioneering companies in software
engineering and developing vendor.

 Planning and designing the project.
• If we want our project to be successful we should work on something and make some plans
such as:
• We should get staff members and other stakeholders involved early on in the process.
• We should make sure to take advantage of free trials and demos to get hands-on experience with
the capabilities of the product
• We should Look for flexibility from vendors
• One of the best and mostly common used types of medical software is electronic medical records
(EMRs) that provides products to work with such as :
• drchrono EHR
• NueMD
• AdvancedMD
• We should deal with some companies and vendors that offers and supports the good Medical
devices that we want.
• We should learn the staff that will use our Medical software how to use it and they must be
efficient to get on with the software and use it with the Medical devices (Medical Hardware)
• We should take care of “Always put patients first” so we must do our best as not to disturb the

drawing up plans to minimise their effect on the project. And the risks is divided into 3 Groups
