Total OECD indigenous production of natural gas fell marginally in April 2017 compared to April 2016 (-0.2%).
Production declined in the OECD Americas and OECD Europe (-0.6% and -1.9% y-o-y1 respectively), offsetting
the increase in OECD Asia Oceania (+7.2% y-o-y). The latter was driven by Australia, where in year-to-date2
terms indigenous production has increased by 8.6%, driven by Surat-Bowen and Carnarvon basin production.

Total OECD imports (entries)3 of natural gas were 7.4% higher year-on-year in April 2017, with growth across
all OECD regions. The year-on-year increase in OECD Europe (+8.3%) was particularly notable. Imports into
Turkey increased 19.6% year-on-year as demand in the country continues to increase.

Total OECD exports (exits)3 of natural gas also increased year-on-year in April 2017 (+10.1%). Again exports
increased in all OECD regions, with particularly strong year-on-year growth in the OECD Americas and OECD
Europe (+18.1% and +6.1% respectively). Most notable, the US was a net exporter of natural gas for the first
time in April 2017, reflecting the significant increase in LNG exports. US natural gas exports are expected to
continue growing due to infrastructure improvements, including new gas pipelines and LNG facilities. Among
others the Sabine Pass facility in Louisianna has played a key role in this growth, with the third LNG train
starting operations in March 2017.

Overall, total OECD gross consumption of natural gas slightly decreased in April 2017 compared to April 2016
(-0.7%). Similarly, on a year-to date basis gross consumption of natural gas decreased by 0.4%. The decrease
in consumption in the OECD Americas (-6.1% y-o-y) managed to offset growth in OECD Asia Oceania and
OECD Europe (+1.7 and +8.8% y-o-y respectively).

2) COUNTRY NOTES
Australia Prior to July 2015, total exports of natural gas are estimated by the administration, based on annual (July to
June) and quarterly data. The breakdown of export destinations is estimated by the IEA on the basis of OECD
imports of natural gas from Australia.

Belgium Most recent data on origins of imports and final destinations of exports of LNG are the best estimates from
the Belgian Administration based on available preliminary data.

Canada There is a break in stocks for natural gas between December 2015 and January 2016. From January 2016 data
onwards Statistics Canada is officially publishing data on stock levels.
Data for Canada are submitted by the Department of Natural Resources (Natural Resources Canada, or
NRCan), based on actual and preliminary data from Canada's national statistical agency (Statistics Canada)
and various other sources. In cases where data from these sources are unavailable, estimates are conducted
by NRCan, based on information available at the time, including alternative sources. Data are usually finalised
within three months of the first publication. An important source for any differences between data published
by Statistics Canada and data published by the IEA is data estimated by NRCan or the IEA Secretariat.

Iceland There is no natural gas data for Iceland, as there is neither production nor consumption.

Israel The statistical data for Israel are supplied by and under the responsibility of the relevant Israeli authorities.
The use of such data by the OECD is without prejudice to the status of the Golan Heights, East Jerusalem and
Israeli settlements in the West Bank under the terms of international law.
Information is based on data published by the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources as well as the Central
Bureau of Statistics.

Mexico Observed gross inland deliveries of natural gas from January 2013 onwards are estimated. Revisions are
pending.

United Kingdom Beginning with January 2016, exits to the Isle of Man are reported under Non-Specified/Other. Prior to this
date, exits to the Isle of Man were included in exits to Ireland.
