Blessing Prayer for Father’s Day
Blessed are You, Source of all life, who has given to us the
gift of the father of our family. Today, we honor him, and we
thank You for the numerous good things that are ours because
of him. His love for us has been a sign of Your divine
affection and a sharing in Your holy love. His continuous
concern for our needs and welfare is a mirror of Your holy
providence. And so, as we honor him, we praise You, Father
of All Peoples. Bless him this day with Your strength and
holy power that he may continue to be a sign of You, our
God, and a priestly parent to our family. May we, the
members of his family, assist him in his holy duties as a
parent with our respect, our obedience and our deep affection.
Bless him, with happiness and good health, with peace and
with good fortune, so that he who has shared of his very life
may live forever with You, his loving God. This blessing and
all graces, we pray, descend upon the father of our family: in
the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Compass Bible Study During the Summer!
Meeting on Tuesday nights from 7-8 pm in the St.
Francis Room during the Summer, Compass is a
fun and laid-back way to read scripture and get a
little more out of Mass. Every week we spend an hour dis-
cussing the next Sunday’s readings and sharing our faith. We
are student run, student led, and totally low time commitment,
so drop by whenever you can. Come hang out with us this
Tuesday!

The Paulists announced that Father Ed
Nowak, CSP (pronounced 'Novak")
will take the helm of the UCC effective
August 1, 2008. Father Nowak is
currently serving the Paulists as
Director of Vocations, a position he has
held for six years.
Dat Tran, CSP, a Paulist seminarian, who will
be serving his pastoral year at St. Austin’s.
While Dat will spend most of his time at St.
Austin’s, he will be a common face at the
UCC. God willing, Dat will be ordained a
Paulist priest in 2011.
Paulist Fathers Celebrate 150 Years!
Paulist Fathers from around the world will gather in
Washington, DC on Thursday for the 150th Anniversary
Convocation and Gala. Joining us will be Paulist Associates
and Collaborators from our local foundations. Over 400 are
expected to attend this weekend of events to hear
presentations from: David O’Brien -- The Paulists: From the
Beginning; D. Scott Appleby -- The Paulists: At the
Crossroads of Faith and Culture; Father Ron Rolheiser,
O.M.I. -- The Paulists: Spirituality in North America; and
John Allen -- The Paulists: Impacting the Church of
Tomorrow. Cardinal Francis George of Chicago will
preside at the Mass of Thanksgiving on Saturday evening.
The weekend will conclude with the ordination of Steven Bell
who will begin his first assignment as a priest at St. Austin
Church in July.
Since Fathers Dave Farnum and Ed Koharchik will attend the
convocation, Holy Cross Father Frank Zlotkowski will
preside at the 10:30am Mass next Sunday, and Diocesan
Director of Vocations Father Mike Sis will preside at the 8pm
Mass.
Men's vocation discernment dinner in Austin
Any single, Catholic man (age 18 or older) who is interested
in discerning his vocation in life is invited to monthly
informal dinners with others who are also considering
seminary and the priesthood. The next gathering will be held
June 26 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Borromeo House at 905
Duncan Lane in Austin. For more information, contact Fr.

Weekly Reflection Question:

University Avenue Improvements
UT will soon begin improvements along
University Avenue in front of the UCC as part
of The University’s effort to make University Avenue a
“gateway” to UT. The project includes complete replacement
of the sidewalk, median and landscaping along both sides of
University Avenue.
During the sidewalk replacement, our University Avenue
doors will not be accessible and visitors are asked to use the
western doors. The improvements are very welcomed!
University Graduate Students & Professionals-
UGAP is a group of post-college age people who
share and live the love of Christ in community
through worship, faith formation, social service, spiritual
development and fellowship. We meet on Tuesdays at 7 pm in
the Mother Teresa Room throughout the Summer.
How do you minister to others?
Micah 6 Food Pantry
UCC participates in the ecumenical Micah 6
food pantry through donation and volunteering
on Thursdays and Saturdays. Many of the people we serve are
homeless. Don’t forget our “neighbors” who have nothing
during the summer months. Please continue to bring canned
goods and packaged dry goods to Sunday Mass for the
baskets near the fountain. We ask that you continue to
support the Micah 6 Food Pantry with your generous
donations. Thanks to all for your help.
Paulist Fun Fact of the Week:
This week, Paulists and friends from across the
country will gather in Washington, DC to celebrate
150 years of Paulist ministry and to ordain Rev. Mr.
Steve Bell, CSP to the priesthood!
