A Narrative Report about the Inset on Semestral Break of

Payangan and Tubo-Tubo Elementary School

T he teaching staffs of Payangan Elementary School and Tubo-Tubo Elementary


School together with their School Head, Mr. Manny T. Aguilar, organized an
interactive SLAC Sessions and Seminar-Workshop regarding on the Mastery of
Skills in Science, Mathematics, English and ICT on October 20-24, 2014 at Tubo-Tubo
Elementary School.

The program started with a prayer led by Mrs. Rosemelinda M. Black, followed by the
singing of national anthem conducted by Ms. Ruby Ann M. Mallari and an energizer through the
effort of Mrs. Lucia A. Castro. Mr. Manny T. Aguilar, the School Head of Payangan and Tubo-
Tubo Elementary School welcome everyone warmly on the first day.

On the first day, Mr. Manny T. Aguilar, as the Over-all Chairman of the RPMS, led his
teachers in the Pre-Evaluation of the teacher’s RPMS. He monitored each objective whether or
not the teachers are on their track in pursuing their set objectives.

On the second day, the SLAC Session inspired the teachers to improve their teaching
skills in Science. Through the effort of Mrs. Kathlyn V. Garcia, she tackled the different theories,
strategies and methods that can be use in teaching Science inside and outside the classroom area.
The use of computers including the World Wide Web and Microsoft Office are also the
highlights in her topic.

On the third day, the SLAC Session about the Mastery of Sills and Content in
Mathematics was introduced and spearheaded by Ms. Alison Acson. She refreshed the minds of
the teachers about the important strategies, techniques and materials that can be use in making
Mathematics easier and fun for the learners.

On the fourth day, the SLAC Session about the Mastery of Skills and Content in English
was led by Mr. Rannel B. Dela Cruz. Using printed materials, non-printed materials, technology
such as computer, media player and audio-visual players are of big help in teaching English
inside the classroom. Strategies like brain storming, individual and group games, music, poems,
skits and arts were also discussed in improving the teaching skills in English.

On the fifth and last day, Mr. Avelino A. Cruz Jr. tickled the minds of the teachers on
how to be brave in using and applying modern technology in teaching different subjects in
school. He gave some points on how to use the Microsoft Word and Publisher in making posters
through “tarpapel”. He also recommended the used of Power Point in making slides and how to
insert pictures, video clips and audio clips on it. He also gave the secret formulas in using the
excel in making different graphs, reports and computing grades which is of course a great help
for teachers.
The SLAC Session was conducted to keep abreast the school faculty with the latest trends and
best practices in teaching and learning in today’s dynamic education industry. The SLAC Session has not
only provided the participants an opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge, but also encouraged them
to make positive changes around them. The participants also got an opportunity to share their knowledge
and experience with colleagues, and learn new pedagogical approaches.

The SLAC ended with the commitment of each teacher to pursue better education for the learners
of Payangan and Tubo-Tubo Elementary School. Indeed the Semestral Break of both school has been
fruitful and productive.
