Communications Plan Outline

Name of Project: Success Through School

1. Intended audience(s)?

 Single Parents of Northwest Arkansas, specifically targeting the


Hispanic community
 Archer Learning Center high school students

2. What is the main message we wish to communicate?


What are secondary messages, and messages for different audiences?

 Education is still important, and still possible.


 There are still ways to have an education and a successful career.

 We want to help create bright and successful futures for these single
parents.

3. Time frame?

 August 2018 - May 2019 (Academic school year)


 Going into Archer Learning Center (the alternative high school in
Springdale) every other month for twelve months

4. What relevant research, data (surveys, focus group results, similar


projects elsewhere, etc.) are or will soon become available?

 According to The Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture, “In


Springdale, Latinos make up more than 30% of the total population.
 According to the Arkansas Department of Education, thirty-eight
percent of students in the Springdale School District are Latino
(6,258)

5. Why communicate? What do we want people to do as a result?

 We want to bring more of an awareness of this scholarship to these


high school students, so that they have the opportunity to continue
their education into college.
6. Activities/publications/events associated with the plan

 A SPSF spokesperson and/or former scholarship winner will go to ALE


for three of the sessions to speak to the single parents in the high
school
 The other three sessions will be “field trips” to the workplaces of
former scholarship recipients

7. Resources required: funds; skills; equipment, supplies; staff time,


temporaries, consultants

 Planning which exact months/coordinating with ALE’s event planner

 Finding volunteers to share their personal stories with the students

 Preparing for the three sessions and three field trips

8. Who has primary responsibility? Who are the


collaborators/helpers/supporters?

 Spokespeople for Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest


Arkansas
 Event planner for SPSF (Ashley Brown)

 Volunteers who give their time to share their success stories with the
students

9. Who is responsible for internal communications around this plan, what


needs to be done?

 The event planner for the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest
Arkansas should reach out to ALE’s event planner, Ashley Brown
 They need to arrange:

o A time to meet

o When the six sessions will take place during the twelve month
period

o Where the sessions will take place within the school

o Which businesses will they go to for the field trips

10. How will we evaluate/measure the success of the plan?


 At the end of May 2019, we will compare the number of SPSF
applicants with the number of applicants from the year prior
