Today I start stase gerontik. Stase where I interact with the elderly.

The first day I follow gymnastics in the morning along with the elderly. It turns
out that the elderly in PSTW this quite a lot. They are lined up neatly on pages
PSTW. Most of the elderly do gymnastics uses the help of the Chair, so that the
elderly do gymnastics with a sitting position in a Chair. But some of the elderly
who are still able to stand doing gymnastics with attitude. The elderly seemed
enthusiastic and excited when carrying out gymnastics.

After the elderly finish doing gymnastics, they rest in the Guest House and
changed clothes to resume activities next dendang ria. We gathered in the Hall for
the Division and group pensions. Then we headed to the Guest House that is
already divided to get acquainted with the elderly.

I get an assignment to practice at the guesthouse Bogenvil. It looks clean and

spacious. There are about 12 elderly who inhabit it. We be shaken and get
acquainted with all the occupants of the guesthouse. Some of the elderly do not
speak Indonesia and it's troubling to me that could not speak Javanese. Some of
the elderly also already experiencing hearing loss, so it is difficult to communicate
with them, sometimes I use sign language to communicate with them. After the
acquaintance of and chat with all occupants of the Guest House I followed the
elderly gathered in the Hall to follow activities dendang ria. Activities in this
“dendang ria” ‘s, all elderly were freed for singing and dancing. All seemed happy
and enjoy listening to the music. The elderly get a turn singing alternately, even
we as students practice also are required to join the singing and dancing.

After the activity is completed, the next activities is lunch. The elderly back to the
guesthouse and elderly who got the assignment take lunch right away to the
kitchen to pick up rations for lunch one of the guesthouse. Elderly from wisma
Bogenvil who take the ration fed are Mrs. Mujirah. In the guesthouse B this food
is shared by Mrs. Fatima so orderly and organised. The elderly put a plate and
Bowl at the dinner table, once for by Mrs. Fatima elderly each take their food and
eat independently. When they're done eating them wash the dining tools. Most of
the elderly here was very advanced, but with their limitations, they are still able to
perform his activities independently as eating, bathing and washing.

The elderly here are also very diligent worship. When it came time to worship,
they went to the mosque to perform prayer, even for a non-muslim religion is also
diligent worship like Mrs. Maria. Mrs. Maria was already 92 years old but
physically and mentally still looked healthy. His cognitive functions are still very
good and he can speak in Indonesia so that it could communicate with me which
only understands the language of Indonesia.

The elderly here will remind my grandma in the village. There is a similar
grandmother once with my grandmother, she is a Mrs.Tugiyah. small body makes
it look cutesy. Mrs. Tugiyah this love to dance, so when I came to and invited talk
at times punctuated by dancing and it was very entertaining. Unfortunately she
can not speak Indonesia and her hearing diminished, so I can only use sign
language to communicate with her. When she told me, I can only listening her
without knowing what the intent of the content of her story.

One thing I learned here, the elderly has a high sense of jealousy among the
elderly more. When I close with one elderly, the other elderly feel angry and
jealous and she will be angry with me so didn't want to chat with me. Never been
a time when I was chatting with one of the elderly, Mrs. Mujirah come and take
me away from the guesthouse. It turns out she doesn't like when I chatted with
Mrs. Wartinem, so directly took me out of the Guest House. Attitude of the
elderly is like a small child again as rather grumpy and sometimes happens too
fracas among the elderly due to trivial causes. But they will soon be good again,
because they are one family in this house.

An extraordinary experience can interact with the elderly here. I learned how to
understand the desires of the elderly here with all of its limitations. In addition, by
chatting, joking banter with the elderly here treat me to miss my grandma far
away in the village.
