FROM THE DESIGNER:
We have all grown up watching Disney classic movies about princesses
and magic. Every girl has at least once imagined herself to be a princess
from those movies; and how much joy we all felt dressing up in princess
clothes! I am experiencing it all once again only this time through the eyes
of my own little girl, who likes to twirl, sing and dance in her pretty skirts and
dresses. She calls this skirt Belle after her favourite Disney princess and she
sure feels like one wearing this skirt.

Seedling was a perfect yarn for this summery project; it is soft, light and has
a great drape. The texture of the yarn itself adds another dimension to the
fabric and makes the skirt look very interesting. This skirt will see your little
princess through summer and fall (even winter in warmer climates).

The skirt is entirely seamless and is worked from the top down. The
waistband is knit in the round first; it begins with a provisional cast on, which
is used to allow for a knitted on waistband. After the set up round the rest
of the skirt is knit flat. Short rows are used in shaping the skirt to allow for
toddler bellies, thus producing an even hemline for the skirt. Front bands
and hemline are knit in seed stitch; hemline is finished off with a picot bind
off to add a bit more of a girly flair to the skirt. Since kids significantly vary in
height, the skirt length is easily customizable.
