Biological controls
They monitor the efficiency of the sterilization process by using
real living organisms. The spores and medium will activate
themselves in order to enter in contact after completion of
the cycle and thus verify the effectiveness of process in real
conditions. As a rule, a 24 hours incubation is sufficient to
ensure that the sterilization process is successful.
There are other forms of biological indicators such as dry
strip, metal plate, discs, etc., with different incubation times
according to the systems and formats.
Biological indicators must comply with the International
Biological controls Standard EN ISO 11138.
