The church year will be over April 30th. We need everyone to read their
missionary books. There are 4 for adults and 6 special Children’s
books. These books or CD’s are available for you to check out at the
missions table in the hallway. Please be sure to write your name in the
check out log and return each book or CD as soon as you can. The
books are also available as E-books for 99¢ each. PDF versions and

TWO OF THE BOOKS AVAILABLE:
Marco and the Mavericks
by Wes Eby
This book is based on true Nazarene missions work in
Paraguay. It includes factual information about places
and the culture of Paraguay. Information about the
Mavericks and the leaders, Larry and Judy Webb, is
true; however, the remainder of the names have been changed. The
Elvin family, the plot about Marco, and some other events have been
added and fictionalized to make the story more readable for children.
Su Lat Marlar and
the Beautiful Cactus
by Cheryl Crouch
This book is based on a true story. Su Lat Marlar and
her family must flee when the military junta burns her
village in Myanmar during a midnight raid. The next
two years, spent in a refugee camp in Thailand, are
difficult. When her family is chosen to relocate to the United States, Su
Lat Marlar hopes her difficulties are behind her. Unfortunately, adjusting
to life in Cactus, Texas, becomes the hardest trial she has yet faced.

This is a one day event in Huntsville at the Von Braun Civic Center. We
have purchased 20 tickets on a first come first serve basis. Cost is $64

MICAH 6:8 MINISTRY from Sandy Schefcik
Did you know…that the 12th Judicial District Recovery Court which
covers the Counties of Franklin, Grundy, Marion, Sequatchie, Bledsoe
and Rhea, was established in 2005 and has accepted over 200
offenders into the program? Statistically, this Court has a success rate
of 83%. That is 83% of those sentenced into the program and who
successfully complete their sentence in Recovery Court custody have
not re-offended within the two years they are tracked. Government
cannot build facilities fast enough to house the increasing number of
offenders we now have. Much of this increase has been brought about
by the tremendous increase in our addicted population. The recidivism
rate has continued to climb but Recovery Courts appear to be an
answer. By dealing with the individual and meeting the medical, mental
and addiction needs that the individual has, when returned to society
the pressure of the addiction no longer drives the individual to commit
crimes to support the habit. Not all offenders are suitable for
acceptance into a Recovery Court program. Not all who are accepted
and sentenced into Recovery Courts are successful. But the positive
results seen through these programs far exceeds anything that has
been attempted before.
