Other Griffon in a Nutshell
Mk I Archive The Griffon is a cheap, mobile, durable, and highly-effective combat light myrmidon. With
Terrain Archive the advent of myrmidon-heavy lists, this jack has been referred to as Retribution's heavy
infantry.

Combos and Synergies


Dawnguard Invictors provide a jack-marshal to save focus and Reach on the Griffon
give the Invictors easier access to Flank.
Kaelyssa's Force Wall list benefits from having a large number of Griffons, yielding a
large number of hit boxes and giving extra Arcanists for the fewest possible points.
Vyros2's Synergy effectively increases the MAT and POW of melee attacks for each
Griffon in the list, and he can fit a lot of them.
Dawnguard Sentinels Pronto jack marshall ability can let a Griffon rocket across the
table with an accurate charge that ends in hitting a target 17" away from it's starting
point that turn

shield ARM bonus against attacks from any direction and a 360-degree 2" melee
range. Casting Mobility gives the Griffon additional SPD (though the Pathfinder is
redundant). Use Fleet and run this myrmidon 18" up the table. Just make sure it stays
in his control area.

Drawbacks and Downsides


Griffon survivability can be somewhat variable depending on how many attacks it absorbs
before the Shield gets knocked out. Once the Shield is out, Griffons are relatively easy to
take down.

Tricks and Tactics


The Griffon is one of the best Synergy warjack/warbeasts in the game, providing cheap, but
highly effective attacks with a decent base POW. They do extremely well soaking a lot of
damage and Reach allows them to tie up models that would rather not be engaged.
Pathfinder being built in is a boon for its mobility, allowing it to get places easily. If
measuring unassisted durability per point cost spent on a warjack or warbeast, this is
probably one of the best in the game.

Rather than throwing Griffons at solid objects, exploit their effectiveness by making you
opponent deal with them. If you force the other guy to devote resources to neutralizing or
removing a cheap light myrmidon, you're doing something right. Speed the Griffon onto
objectives; let it provide just enough of a speed bump to allow the rest of your force to
catch up. Keep one or two of them on the flanks to charge solos or light 'jacks others are
engaging. Put on bursts of speed to get up and engage Arc Nodes. That sort of thing.

The Griffon is a solid anti-advanced deployment harrier. With the movement boost, Reach
and Pathfinder, you can situate a Griffon on a certain section of the field and make your
enemy think twice before deploying Eiryss, Mage Hunter of Ios, a Wrack, a Trencher Chain
Gun Crew, or any other fragile models within your 'jack's threat range. Place the Griffon near
your expensive Dawnguard Invictors, and you won't have to worry about Widowmakers

putting them down by the bunch. Just be sure that if your opponent does put any Advance
Deployment models within reach, you correct his foolish mistake by taking them away. And
if a Griffon cannot destroy the target, it should deal some solid damage on the charge and
by engaging remove their ranged threat for a period of time. There are few players who
would not eagerly expend a Griffon to snarl up a Teraph and avoid some ranged fire for a
round or two.
