La organización del primer Congreso Panamericano de Mecánica
de Suelos e Ingeniería Geotécnica se llevó a cabo en México en el
año de 1959. En noviembre de 2019, regresa a nuestro país;
teniendo como sede el Caribe mexicano. Cancún es un destino
turístico reconocido a nivel mundial que ofrece belleza natural,
una infraestructura turística de primer nivel e importantes y atrac-
tivos centros arqueológicos.
En esta ocasión, se desarrollará paralelamente el 5º Simposio
Internacional de Cimentaciones Profundas con la participación
conjunta del Geo Institute (ASCE) y del Deep Foundations Institute
Sociedad Mexicana de Ingeniería Geotécnica
(DFI). Cabe mencionar que, dentro de las actividades, se contem-

istas de toda América y del resto del mundo, así como cursos
pre-congreso de gran interés a la práctica profesional y la Confer-
encia Arthur Casagrande.
Por parte de los organizadores, extendemos una cordial invitación
a la comunidad geotécnica internacional para plantear en
conjunto las problemáticas, retos y soluciones que enfrenta este
Panamericano 2019 sector de la ingeniería.

The first Pan-American Congress of Soil Mechanics and Geotechni-
cal Engineering was held in Mexico in 1959. In November 2019,
it will return to our country; with the Mexican Caribbean as its
headquarters. Cancun is recognized worldwide for its natural
beauty, first class tourist infrastructure and important and attrac-
tive archaeological sites.
On this occasion, the 5th International Deep Foundations Sympo-
sium will be held in parallel with the joint collaboration of the
Geo Institute (ASCE) and the Deep Foundations Institute (DFI). It is
worth mentioning that, within the activities, more than 10 tech-
nical sessions are planned with the participation of specialists
from all over America and the rest of the world, as well as
pre-congress courses of great interest to professional practice and
the Arthur Casagrande Conference.
On the part of the Organizers, we extend a friendly invitation to
the international engineering community, in order to establish
the problems, challenges and solutions facing this engineering
sector.
