Science Communicator – Outreach Jan. 2017 – Aug. 2017
Science North, Thunder Bay, ON
• Delivered engaging and relevant science programming, tailored to meet the Ontario Science and
Technology Curriculum for students in Grades 1-8, in elementary schools, First Nations
communities, and at public events. Consistently received five star reviews/level fours for my
presentation skills
• Acted as an ambassador for Science North when travelling to communities across Northern
Ontario
• Trained new staff members on how to operate and deliver Planetarium programming
• Maintained program statistics and managed visitor surveys ensuring that all data collected was
correctly entered into the appropriate systems in order to be used in funding reports and grant
proposals
• Drove and maintained a company vehicle in Thunder Bay and throughout Northern Ontario
travelling between 100-800 km a week

Sea Turtle Nesting Monitor Apr. — May 2014


Canadian Organization for Tropical Education and Rainforest Conservation
Caño Palma Biological Station, Tortuguero, Costa Rica
• Patrolled a 5 km transect on Playa Norte in teams, six nights a week, collecting human impact
data and monitoring turtle activity in an effort to decrease the rate of poaching and increase the
number of successful nesting events
• Worked nesting female turtles: recorded measurements, counted number of eggs, and triangulated
nests
• Took part in nest excavation measuring hatching success, emerging success, poaching rates,
predation rates, and environmental factors
