POST PLACEMENT LEARNING PLAN –

own self-perceptions.

2. a) Reread your associate teacher’s feedback, including emails, notes, letter of concern and evaluation reports. Using your associate teacher’s
comments as a guide, complete the table below in detail, listing strengths/areas for further development, regardless of whether you agree or not.

b) Once you have completed the table to reflect your associate teacher’s comments, revisit the table below. Using a different colour, highlight the
Strengths / Areas for Further Development with which you agree. Reflect upon / add additional Strengths / Areas for Further Development
according to your own self-assessment of your teaching abilities. Give thought to the criteria you checked off in Appendix A.

My Strengths Areas for Further Development

My strengths during placement was mainly the ability to speak in front of the class and
manage the classroom. It was never an issue to keep the class under control, or to have
them quietly sitting in their seats listening to me talk. (However, just because I could get
them to sit quietly in their seats did not always mean they were interested or learning
well)
Teaching kids 1 on 1 also become a strength which developed through my placement in
the locally developed classes. The only way that the majority of these kids would learn is
if you helped them each individually and guided them through the process step by step.
This was I could focus specifically on their individual needs and help them with what they
needed.
An area which I could use further development would be finding creative or fun ways of
presenting a topic which I am not familiar with. This came very naturally to my AT who
had been teaching for over 15 years. He would be able to quickly think of and design an
entire project which was interesting for the kids, had them actively engaged and met all
of the learning requirements. I would love to be able to get to this point instead of just
presenting the information to them as a lecture or a simple activity. As mentioned in
strengths, I don’t find it difficult to get a class to sit down and listen to a lesson; however
that would just make me a boring teacher that they have to listen in to instead of an
interesting teacher that they want to listen to and complete work for. I would strive to be
an engaging, interesting teacher who designs fun, experiential projects which further the
students learning. While a strength may by doing these activities outside of the
classroom, I could work on bringing this inside the classroom.

3. How will you further develop your teaching skills? Focusing on your Areas for Further Development, as well as your Strengths, design your Learning
Plan. This learning plan should include stated goals, strategies for achieving your goals, and the supports you need for achieving your goals. This
learning plan is to be submitted to your faculty advisor and you are required to meet with your faculty advisor to discuss your plan.
