FBL- File Based Loader – r9

Spreadsheet data loader

HDL –HCM Data Loader
PDL- Payroll data loader
Spread sheet data loader does not supported images ,attachment loads.

How can I fix errors?

You fix errors in the spreadsheet that you used to upload the data.

Errors that occur during the import to the Load Batch Data stage tables report
automatically in the spreadsheet. For any row that fails to load, double-click the status
value for a description of the error. After correcting any errors, click Upload again.

Errors that occur as data is loaded from the stage tables to the application tables also
report in the spreadsheet. Click Refresh to display these errors. After correcting any load
errors, click Upload again.

How can I avoid data-dependency errors?

You can avoid data-dependency errors by following the order in which business
objects appear on the Initiate Spreadsheet Load page. For example, Create Location
appears before Create Business Unit on the Initiate Spreadsheet Load page. This
indicates that you must create locations before you can create business units.

You can create business objects using any of the available methods. For example, you
can create locations on the Create Location page before uploading business units
using HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader.

Can I load date-effective data?

Yes. You can create date-effective business objects. You can also update date-
effective person and assignment data using HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader.
You can't delete or correct date-effective data using HCM Spreadsheet Load

HCM Data Loader:

History data
Images
Flex fields
Documentation of records
Attachments we cannot do through FBL and Spread sheet data loader that is the reason in R10 Onwards
Oracle has released HDL.

HCM Data Loader and File-Based Loader cannot be used at the same time for objects supported by both.
Either of them should be picked for conversion.

MAJOR ENHANCEMENTS OVER FBL

1. Bulk loading of HCM data from any source
2. Data-migration or incremental updates
3. Flexible, pipe-delimited file format
4. Comprehensive bulk loading capabilities
5. Automated and user managed loading
6. Stage Table Maintenance

1. Bulk Loading of HCM Data from any source

This point to me doesn’t seems valid as FBL also used to do the same thing and hence I will discard

this
2. Data Migration or incremental updates
FBL does the same but if you have say ‘N’ records for an employee and you want to add one more
records you need to pass all N+1 records
Using HDL you would be required to just pass the (N+1) Th record so a major enhancement

3. Flexible, pipe-delimited file format

Available in FBL too hence discarded again.

4. Comprehensive bulk loading capabilities

A very new advanced and enhanced feature.

5. Automated and user managed loading

FBL can also be automated using web service call hence again discarded.
6. Stage Table Maintainenace

This again was in FBL too hence discarded again.

So now we will primarily discuss about 2 points namely :
a. Data Migration or Incremental Updates
b. Comprehensive Bulk Loading Capabilities.

HCM Data Loader Configuration Parameters

Configure HCM Data Loader

Delete Source File

Delete the source file from the Oracle WebCenter Content server when processed.

File Action

Default file-processing action.

The Import and Load value ensures that valid objects are loaded after import completes. The Import
Only value only imports your data to the stage tables. Load is not initiated.

File Character Set

Character set used for business object and attachment files. You can specify any Java-supported
character set.

File Encryption

Default file encryption.

HCM Data Loader Scope

Specifies whether HCM Data Loader is used for all data loading.

From Release 10 onward, the default value of the HCM Data Loader Scope parameter is Full for new
customers only. When HCM Data Loader Scopeis set to Full, HCM Data Loader is used for all data loading.
You can't change this setting.

For existing customers upgrading from Release 9, the default value of this parameter is Limited. If you
set it to Full, then you can't change it back to Limited.

Note: HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader isn't available when HCM Data Loader Scope is set to Full.

Import Cache Clear Limit

Number of file lines to be processed before the cache is cleared.

Import Commit Size

Number of file lines to import between each commit.

Don't change this value unless Oracle requests the change.

Maximum Percentage of Import Errors

Percentage of file lines in error that can occur in a business object before the import process stops for
the object.

Maximum Percentage of Load Errors

Percentage of business-object instances in error that can occur for a business object before the load
process stops.

Data Error Stack Trace Occurrences by Thread

Maximum number of data error message occurrences on a processing thread for which stack trace is
recorded.

Complex Error Stack Trace Occurrences by Thread

Maximum number of complex error message occurrences on a processing thread for which stack trace is
recorded.

Load Cache Clear Limit

Number of business-object instances to be loaded from the stage tables before the cache is cleared.

Don't change this value unless Oracle requests the change.

Maximum Concurrent Threads for Load

Maximum number of threads to run concurrently when loading data from the stage tables to the
application tables.

This parameter is used in conjunction with the Load Group Size parameter. Only the number threads
needed to load your objects using the Load Group Size parameter are initiated.

Maximum Concurrent Threads for Import

Maximum number of concurrent threads when importing.

Load Group Size

Number of business objects processed as a single unit of work by a single thread.

Transfer Group Size

Number of file lines processed as a single unit of work by a concurrent thread

Search for the HCM Templates Ex : ActionReasons.dat

We will get error message because we have not created the Source name in the Lookup let create
from the task mange Common lookups task

Then load it will work.

Errors data Files Ex:

Column missing

Wrong date Format:

Change the Business Object Filename then we get error.

Without Zip the File try to load we will get error message
