NAEYC Standard # 1 : Promoting Child Development and Leaming

This artifact is an essay I wrote about ADHD. It explains what ADHD is and the di節erent

types ofADHD. It also talks al)Out血e hypotheses that people have madeわout the causes, and it

also gives some facts about ADHD. It explains the way a child will get a diagnosis ofADHD,

and it also talks about some ofthe treatments and medications available to people with ADHD. It

also talks about the history ofADHD. I wrote this paper in the spring of2014 for ECED 230. I

Placed this under NAEYC standard l , because knowing about a common disorder is very

important for an early childhood education teacher to know al)Out, and it helps me understand

Children with ADHD, it helps me know what they need, and it helps me explain the disorder to

ParentS that have children with ADHD. I leaned from doing this paper that even though ADHD

Can SOmetimes be misdiagnosed, the children that actually have it will have it throughout their

entire lives.
