INTRODUCTION

1 .1 . Authority

The requirements of this Design and the report are spelled out in the terms of reference of the

contract between PPTA Consultant (KECC jv Tetira) and PT. Prana Kurnia Consultant dated May

27, 2013. A brief summary of the terms of reference is as follows:

Scope of Works:

A. Preparation and data collections;

o Collection data about the problem, causes and incindent of flood
o Collect topographic data of previous studies
o Orientation and location identification
o Coordination of relevant agencies

B. Survey and investigation field work;

o Measurment of topography
o Simple engineering geological and soil mechanic, icluding hand auger,
sondir (Duth cone penetrometer) and test pit.

C. Data Analysis and modelling;

o Analysis of conditions of river morphology
o Determination of dimension hydraulic dredge and complementary
structures

D. Preparation of advanced basic design and calculation of quantities

o Analysis and study of advanced basic design type with selection of
alternatives
o Preparation of drawing : Plans, Long section and cross section and related
structures

E. Preparation of technical specifications

F. Reporting and Discussions.

1 .2 . General Features of Ciujung River

The Ciujung river with total catchment area 2,144.86 km2 and a river length about of 119.6 km has

three major tributaries Ciberang river, Cisimeut river and upper of Ciujung river. Situated between

1060 01’ 00” - 1060 29’ 05” Eastern Longitude and between 60 15’ 30” - 60 43’ 45” Southern

Latitude. The biggest flood occurred on 14 January 2012 caused flooding areas of settlement of

more than 10,000 houses, paddy fields of about 4,000 ha, fishponds 150 ha, industrial areas 20

ha, and Jakarta-Merak Toll road km.57 up to km.59.

1 .3 . Background of The Design Work

The necessity of designing normalization of Ciujung River in 11 km reach from Pamarayan

Barrage up to beginning of existing dike (Nagara Village) is to reduce flood inundation area,

mainly on Jakarta-Merak Toll Road, which cause Billions economic losses.

The Normalization plan proposed included:

o Excavation/Dredging of riverbed
o Embankment dike
o Tributaries/Drain inlet gate
o Bridges
o Spillway

1 .4 . Scope of The Advanced Design Work

The design work includes topographic survey, soil survey and laboratory test work and hydrology

and hydraulics design to determine the water level caused by the flood discharge whit 25-year

return period.
