Experimental Procedures

Part A : Vertical plane surface (α = 0o)

Counterbalancing the water vessel

1 The water vessel was set at (1) to an angle of α = 0o using the detent (2).
2 The unit was counterbalance with rotating slider (3). The stop pin (4) placed precisely in the
middle of the hole.

Note : water, rider (6), and appended weight (7) were removed during counterbalancing process.

3 The rider (6) was mounted and the lever arm was set up to any position. The lever arm was
recorded (the distance from the rider to the center of rotation of the water vessel).
4 The appended weight (7) was placed and the value was recorded.
5 The water vessel was added with water until the unit is balanced (until the pin (4) is at the
center of the hole). The level of water (5) in the vessel was recorded.
6 Steps 4 and 5 was repeated at least 5 values of appended weight.

Part B : Inclined planed surface (α=20o)

1 Steps 1 and 2 of the counterbalancing process was repeated at α = 20.

2 Steps 3 to 6 of part A was repeated for measurement.
