Q1) Two signals bandlimited to 3 and 5 kHz are to be TDM. Find the maximum
permission interval between two successive samples.

Q2) 24 telephone channels, each bandlimited to 3.4 kHz are to be TDM by using
PCM with 8 kHz sampling frequency and an 8-bit word. Calculate the
bandwidth of the PCM if a signle bit is added at the beginning of the frame for
the purpose of synchronization..

Q3) Four channels of 5-bits PCM are multiplexed at 8 k frame/sec (with no additional
pulses added). Determine the output pulse rate and pulse width.

Q4) Five telemetry signals, each of bandwidth 1 kHz are to be transmitted

simultaneously by binary PCM_TDM. If the sampling frequency is 2.4 kHz and
9 bit binary code per sample. Find the bit rate if Framing and synchronization
requires an additional 0.5% extra bits then find the minimum bandwidth
required to transmit this signal.

Q5) consider a DM system designed to accommodate analog message signals limited

to bandwidth 5 kHz. A sinusoidal test signal of Amplitude A=1volt and
frequency 1 kHz is applied to the system. the sampling rate of the system is
50kHz. Calculate the step size required to minimize slope overloads

Q6) The analog input signal and the accumulator output waveform of a DM system
are shown in Figure (1). Sketch the delta modulator output. Denote the slope
overload noise region in the Figure (1). Find Rb given Ts=20 µs

Q7) If the message signal power is 0.5 v2, the error signal power is 0.1 v2 and the
quantizer step size is 0.02 v, calculate the signal to quantization noise ratio
and the processing gain in DPCM system.
