When the music stops 9th June 2018
Sound
Rationale

From the previous units I have learnt about the different techniques that are used in short films,
documentaries, advertisement, radio dramas and music videos. For each of these I had to learn what
characteristics are needed for each of them to be classes as that style. Before I started this course I
didn’t know anything so learning this helps me know what is needed to be involved in my final
project as I am doing a documentary. From learning about it previously it gives me an idea on what I
need. I have chosen to do a documentary about how music in schools are being cut down. The
reason I have chosen to do this is because I have a personal experience with it and I think it would be
good to create a project that I am passionate about. I also known people that work in music
education so I can interview them. I am going to be specializing in sounds, to see how I can capture
the sound of people playing clearly

Project concept

For my documentary I am going to focus on information about how music is being cut down in
education and how this means underprivileged children can’t learn how to play an instrument as
having lesson are very expensive. I want people to be more aware of how this is going to effect the
amount of people playing an instrument in this country as they don’t have the opportunity to learnt
as a child and be able to develop their skills, which can result to less bands forming. I want to
produce a factual documentary whilst making people aware of the issue, to support this I am going
to interview several people to hear about their views of the issues and how they think it will affect
the future of music. I have in mind to interview Sundara Karma. I want to interview the music
teacher as the college to find out how due to the cut of music in education show this is going to
affect them for their career. For locations of interviewing I think it would be a good idea to interview
the band in their place of practice so I can get some b-roll of them playing and show the audience
where they have come from, as for the music teacher I would like to use the location of one of the
music rooms where they have the instruments in the back ground.

Evaluation

After each week of the production I will be doing a weekly blog to show how I have progressed what
I have managed to achieve in that time. I am going to be evaluating weather when working on my
project if I change certain things and weather what o have done is meeting the goals of my brief and
if not what I can do to change it.

I am going to be following this
