and develop relationships with staff and students alike by collaborating and creating engaging
and differentiated lessons to support student learning.

Experience

Teacher, École J.S. McCormick School

February 2018 - Present

I am currently occupying a temporary contract position at J.S McCormick School. I took over the
class in February and have been responsible for overhauling the classroom and establishing a
new routine and expectations with the kids. I have also been in charge of two part time EA’s in
my classroom. This position has been a big learning curve and a challenge, but has also been
teaching me a lot about the profession. I have gained confidence as a teacher and have also
developed relationships with coworkers that have been, and will continue to be, invaluable.

Substitute Teacher, Central Alberta

October 2017 – February 2018
I worked as a substitute teacher for three school divisions, Wolf Creek School Division, Chinook
School Division, and Red Deer Catholic School Division. As a new substitute I relied on teachers
requesting me back after having me in to replace them and I developed relationships with
those teachers. The majority of my work was from teachers requesting me, and the rest was from
picking up publicly posted jobs from the online subbing system. Working as a substitute gave me
more classroom experience and tools to manage classroom behaviour. It was invaluable time
for me to learn on the job. I worked mainly in elementary classrooms to gain more experience as
that is the path I would like to take for my teaching career. I also taught at the middle school
and high school levels.

Substitute Educational Assistant, Lacombe

September – October 2017
I worked in the Wolf Creek School Division and was responsible for supporting students’ learning
and assisting the classroom teacher. I worked in English and French Immersion Kindergartens, as
well as Bright Futures Play Academy. My time spent as an Educational Assistant included working
with students individually and in groups. With compassion and patience, I responded to
students’ emotions and attitudes. I strived to keep the classrooms tidy and help set up or clean
up activities. Building relationships with students was a primary goal and ultimately a rewarding
experience. Working as an Educational Assistant in a K-3 school helped me realize that I belong
in an elementary setting as opposed to a secondary setting.
Gas Drive, Red Deer
September 2013-August 2016

Gas Drive, a division of Enerflex, is a company that services and maintains field equipment and facilities. They have
branches around the world.

My daily duties included answering phones, client liaison, filing, ordering supplies, mailing and
collecting invoices. I spent some time working in Accounts Payable and was responsible for
coding invoices and verifying invoices. My main duties during my time at Gas Drive included
payroll and invoicing. I was responsible for collecting, calculating, and entering the mechanics’
timesheets into the SAP system. Forming relationships with the mechanics and office staff was
essential to my position, as we needed to rely on each other. I also invoiced our service jobs,
meaning I needed to verify or balance documents, timesheets and third party invoices for
accuracy before processing them into invoices.

Tutor, Lacombe
February – April 2012
For a short period, I tutored a grade three French immersion student. I planned and executed
mini lessons with him and monitored his progress.

JYSK Linen n’ Furniture, Red Deer

April – September 2011
Working as a sales associate I was responsible for helping customers, putting out stock, running
the till, and selling product.

Mohave Grill, Red Deer

April – December 2010
As a server I took orders, expedited food, served food, took payments, handled money, and
interacted with customers amiably.

Nanny, Lacombe
January – June 2010
I was a nanny to two five-year-old girls. My responsibilities included picking up the girls from
school and caring for them until their parents finished work. I would prepare a snack for them
after school and we would spend time outside, at the park, coloring, playing, drawing, etc.
When their daycare was unavailable, I watched them in the morning before school as well.
