5. Solve for the nodal displacement and support reactions, using the principle of Min. Potential
Energy for the system shown in Figure.

6. The (x, y) Coordinates of three nodes of triangular element of thickness 0.2cm are (1, 4), (5, 2),
(3, 6) cms. Its young’s modulus is 200GPa. Poisson’s ratio 0.3. The edge of element formed by
points (1, 4) and (5, 2) is fixed and a load of 5kN is acting at point (3, 6). Find the nodal
displacements.

7. For axisymmetric element shown in figure, determine the stiffness matrix.


Let E 2.1x105N/mm2 and ν= 0.25. The co-ordinates shown in figure are in millimeters.

8. a) Consider isoparametric quadrilateral element shown in figure, map the point r = 05, s= 0 in
the parent element to the corresponding physical point in the quadrilateral element.
