PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Pistes-Solidaires develops a lot of European projects in the fields of youth and lifelong
learning. Our organization is labelized “Europe Direct Information Centre” by the European
Commission since 2013. The volunteer will take part in the activities of Pistes-Solidaires
and will have the opportunity to be involved in different departments: Mobility department
and Europe Direct Information Centre. He/she will be involved in the development of an
innovative platform aiming at informing young people about all the international mobility
opportunities they can have. As a “mobility ambassador”, the volunteer will participate in
information sessions about mobility and in the promotion of mobility. As well, he will be
involved in local trainings about volunteering for future volunteers. At “Europe Direct
Information Centre” typical activities will be cultural and linguistic cafés, animation sessions
about Europe in leisure centres and schools, events and information campaigns about
Europe.
The volunteer will share a fully equipped apartment in the city of Pau with other European
volunteers, use a bike or the local bus for transport. He/she will receive a monthly budget
for food to prepare his/her own meals.
The volunteer will be able to attend French language lessons at a community centre in Pau.

The volunteer should be open-minded and interested in the fields of animation and youth
information. He/she should be motivated to participate actively in non-formal education
activities. The Driving licence will be necessary.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The secondary school Pierre Emmanuel is an innovative public secondary school hosting
students from 11 to 15. It is a boarding school where French and Spanish students are
hosted (240 in total with 120 boarders). Youngsters from 16 to 18 are also hosted to
support the students. The work is organized around motivating projects inside the school
and are based on cross-disciplinary activities. The volunteers will be directly in contact with
the students in order to implement educational activities (during the school time or
extracurricular) and/or activities about citizenship. It will be for example participate in school
excursion, supporting students who want to lead their own project… They will also have the
possibility to support the students by doing extra-tutoring but also by organizing cultural
activities (theatre, music, digital activities, video projects…).
The volunteers will be hosted in flats in Pau. A monthly bus card will be provided. They will
take lunch inside the school from Monday to Friday and will receive money for the other
meals of the weeks (breakfast, dinners and all the meals during the week-ends and school
holidays).
VOLUNTEER PROFILE
The applicants will have to be open-minded, motivated and interested in the topics of the
project, such as: - Youth and non-formal education - Languages and communication -
Team-working and working with people from different backgrounds - Adaptation and
flexibility in order to participate in specific projects. Notions of French will be an asset.
Native English or Spanish speakers will be highly appreciated. We host 2 volunteers from 2
different countries!

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The city of Hendaye (17,000 inhabitants), located in the extreme south-west of France at
the border to Spain, will host 2 volunteers. The main objective of this project is to promote
Europe on local level. The EVS volunteers will be involved in various community projects
with different partners and age groups. Both volunteers will take actively part in animations
about Europe in the town’s leisure centre (during school holidays) or within the
extracurricular activities of two schools for children aged from 6 to 11. One volunteer will
collaborate with the Youth Information Office and youth workers with objectives orientated
to the development of international activities. The tasks of the other volunteer will be more
orientated towards initiating international exchanges with an emphasis on sports and
leisure activities with the town’s sport service. They will have the opportunity to propose
their own activities and to develop new partnerships.
The volunteers will share a flat with 2 bedrooms in Hendaye. They will receive a monthly
budget for food and pocket money. The city will provide them with bicycles and they can
use the free city bus.
VOLUNTEER PROFILE
Both volunteers should be interested in youth animation, non-formal education and event
organization. The volunteer involved in the activities of the sports service should be into
sports and sporting events. French knowledge isn’t a must but would be an advantage.
We'll host 2 volunteers from 2 different countries.

The Tourist Office of Sarlat Périgord Noir is public organisation in the field of industry and
commerce, linked with the city of Sarlat. The missions of the Tourist Office: - Welcome and
inform the tourist - Ensure the touristic promotion of the territory - Commercialisation of
touristic services - Contribute and coordinate the action of diverse partners in the field of
local touristic development, - Exploitation of city tours of the city - Development and
implementation of events The volunteer will be part of the Tourist Office team and a tutor
will follow the volunteer during all the EVS. Welcoming the people being the main mission
of the Tourist Office, the volunteer will participate in this activity regularly. He will also have
the possibility to visit for free the touristic attractions. In addition to these activities of
welcome of the visitors, the youngsters will be able to support the different services of the
Tourist Office.
The Tourist Office will rent a flat for the volunteer The volunteer will receive money for food.
The Tourist Office will provide an an electric bicycle to the volunteer.
During the EVS the volunteer will participate to the On-Arrival-Training and Mid-Term-
Training organized by the National Agency. The volunteer can also be part of some
additional training regarding the Tourist Office agenda.

The candidates have to be open minded, motivated, and interested by the themes of this
voluntary activity: - Show real interest in tourism, animation and communication. - Interest
in exchanging with all kinds of public. - Appreciate teamwork and intercultural situations. -
Adaptability and flexibility to be able to participate on punctual projects; No specific
qualification is necessary to participate on this project except for some kind of work
autonomy and capacity to join a team. Knowledge of the French language would be
appreciated but is absolutely not necessary.

PLACEMENT TOPICS
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Lycée Agricole, located in Mauléon, SW France, will host 2 volunteers who will have
the opportunity to work along with the students, the teachers and the employees of the
school, in order to create an intercultural environment (by organising projects, extra
curricular activities, participation to languages classes...). The Lycée Agricole of Mauléon
has participated in European projects since 2004 including training periods abroad in
Spain, Ireland and Great Britain. The volunteers will be involved in the preparation of the
students who participate in trainings abroad and assist to the school's documentation
center to furnish documentary data about Europe. They will also set up leisure time and
sports activities with the students attending the boarding school (270 of 330 students) and
participate in educational projects about health, environment and sustainable development.
The two volunteers will be accomodated in an independent appartment at the site. They will
have the possibility to take their meals at the boarding school and receive a food budget for
the weekends. A car will be at their disposal on evenings and weekends.
VOLUNTEER PROFILE
The volunteers should have the following characteristics: openness, curiosity, and good
relationship-building skills... It would also be helpful to have an interest in social and cultural
activities and sports. Driving license will be necessary and basic skills in French would be a

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Children's home with Social Character - MECS is situated in the city of Anglet,
neighbour city of Biarritz and Bayonne, on a large estate together with other social
institutions. It hosts 48 children aged 6 to 18 years entrusted by children's judges or the
social welfare service for children. Its role is to protect the children by giving them a living
environment in the form of an educational boarding school. The EVS volunteers will join the
4 educational groups of the Children's home and will assist the teams of educators. The
volunteers will be involved in cultural activities: they will select interesting sites to visit or
specific topics to discover, according to the age of every group, and prepare the excursions
with the educators and the children. At the same time they can organise activities around
gastronomy, dance, chorus singing, music, painting, theatre within the centre.
The volunteers will share a flat in Anglet with other EVS volunteers, having each a single
room. They will receive a monthly budget for food and pocket money and have a monthly
bus card for the Côte basque-Adour Agglomeration
VOLUNTEER PROFILE
The volunteers should be interested in animation and group activities with children and
teenagers, in setting up projects and in exchanging with the youngsters of the centre. They
have to present a clean police record and need to have the driving licence. Knowledge of
French would be an advantage. We host 2 volunteers from 2 different countries!

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The MJC Rive Gauche is a cultural and social center proposing non-formal education
activities like singing, yoga, language lessons, and family excursions open to all age
groups. For youngsters from 11 to 18 years, the center organizes recreation and school-
based activities, as well as special leisure time programs during school holiday periods. It
works with youngsters in order to transmit them different values such as non-formal
education, solidarity, participation in democracy and active citizenship. The hosting of a
European volunteer makes part of the associative project to raise awareness about other
cultures and mobility projects among in particular the young members. The EVS volunteer
will participate in the different activities with youngsters 11 to 18 years, set up own activities
and help the youth workers to organize others. He/she will also participate in the gardening
activities of the community garden Marsan maintained by the MJC Rive Gauche used as an
educational tool.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The volunteer will participate in the activities of the UPPA Cultural Service at the Basque
coast office within the student’s house in Bayonne. The aim of the programming project of
this service is to create encounters between international artists and Basque coast
inhabitants, being students or not. The link with the Cultural Service of the UPPA in Pau
and its network, developed since 2005, allows the Bayonne office to include the Basque
coast on European tours of numerous interesting artists. The 'Microscope', name given to
the Cultural Service of the Basque Coast, organises about 15 events per season. The
volunteer will participate in the design, the logistics and the promotion of several events
(contemporary music and live performances) and become familiar with the accompaniment
of projects and the techniques of performing arts. New media and communication will be in
the heart of this project. He/she can, if he/she wishes, also assist other services located in
the Students' house.
The volunteer will have a private room in a flat shared with two other EVS volunteers in
Anglet (4km), using a bike or the local bus for transport. He/she will receive a monthly
budget for food and local transport.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Student’s house is a common convivial place for the academic community and all
students. It is also a place where students can find all information and contacts related to
the academic, cultural and sporting life of the campus of Pau, the city and the region. In the
Student’s house the volunteer will participate in the cultural activities implemented by the
Cultural Service. This service offers to all public and throughout the academic year a rich
and varied program of events: concerts, live shows (theatre, dance, cirque…). The
volunteer will be the "reporter" of such events by providing details on the Cultural Service
web pages. He/she will be present on the set of events, will deal with the reports, concerts
and performances (photos, video interviews etc) and do videos in order to supply the
YouTube channel. He/she will help to create means of communication and participate in
campaigns to put up posters.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The International Relations Office’ mission is to inform students wishing to study abroad
and to guide foreign students at the UPPA. The volunteer will accompany international
students in the beginning of the academic year (September and January for Erasmus
students) and help them around during the rest of their stay. He/she will help them for the
inscriptions to IEFE (French as a foreign language courses) and all practical arrangements
of the campus, being the link between the international students and the campus’
administrative services. The volunteer will be able to learn how to implement
communication tools facilitating the information on the students’ life (social networks,
multimedia tools) and participate in the organisation of information seminars, informing the
students about students exchange programs. His/her main tasks will be related to the
support of the ESN network by the organisation of activities: linguistic cafés, excursions,
theme evenings,...
