RESEARCH PROJECT FOR WRITING IN DISCIPLINE

CHAPTER I

A.INTRODUCTION

The traditional College route have classes between 7am up to 5pm basically to

focus the students to study offering block schedule for full-time students. Nowadays, the

price of education is rising-up, and not all students can afford to go to school. Nearly half

of fulltime students are looking for a job just to sustain their studies and the remaining

part is currently working for their family. Given that, working student academic

performance are affected because of uncompetitive working schedule.

The advantages of having flexible school schedule are classified on the needs and

wants of the students. Students nowadays can choose whether to study in daytime or

evening. Students have different style of learning the same as instructors have different

ways of teaching. Therefore, the best time to attend the school will vary for every

individual. Nowadays, some colleges and universities offer very flexible schedule that

can satisfy any student and their preferences and needs. Flexible schedule will make

more opportunities for students, they can work and study at the same time. ICCT Colleges

increases its offer on flexible schedule for working students, night classes are available

to suit students who are working on daytime.

Night classes are held in the evening generally between the hours of 5 and 10 PM.

Night classes are design so that working students or students with families can attend

classes without disrupting their work or family schedules. Night classes, or evening

classes, were originally designed to help non-traditional students attend courses and

complete their degree programs.

In a study by Dunn and Dunn, they said that there are different types of learners:

morning people, afternoon “larks”, and the “night owls”. Their study found that the

students tend to appear most awake right after lunch (which is coincidentally when

teachers are the least awake). Unfortunately, even then not everyone will have reached

real wakefulness, which makes it seem there is no “optimal time” for learning.

CHAPTER III

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

The graph shows that from question number 1, the 50 respondents answered Yes

and the remaining 6, answered No. Therefore, the night class is the preferred time to

study for most of the respondents. From question no. 2, the 53 respondents answered

Yes while the remaining 3 answered No. Therefore, most of the respondents considered

that night class is a big opportunity for them. From question no. 3, the 54 respondents

answered Yes, and the remaining 2 answered No. Therefore, they considered that night

class is an advantage for those working students. From question no. 4, the 40

respondents answered Yes, and the Remaining 16 answered No. Therefore, they realized

that being working at daytime and studying at night has a big effect on their health. From

question no. 5, the 44 respondents answered Yes while the 12 of them answered No.

Therefore, the respondents are facing difficulties on handling time management for school

and work.

The respondents say that having night class has a big disadvantage for their health

and family relationship. They are prone in sickness sometimes they suffer serious stress

from work and school, they don’t have enough time for their family, they not even join

some family gatherings because of busy schedule and school activities.

Most of the respondents are motivated by their families, even this situation is

difficult for them to handle they still to continue to strive harder to reach their dreams and

goals in life. They are fully supported with their families and friends so none of the

respondents are getting quit with this situation because of the motivation given by their

families. The respondents prioritizing both work and study, they try harder to come to

work and school at the same time, so they can fund their own studies with asking financial

help from their parents. Because of the situation most of the respondents come to school

late because of some certain reasons like the distance between work and school, the

availability of public transport, traffic, absences of co-workers, etc. because this most of

them have skip meals and didn’t have enough time to rest.

RESEARCH PROJECT FOR WRITING IN DISCIPLINE

The respondents mostly like to choose evening class rather than morning and

afternoon class because most of our respondents are working at daytime and study at

night time. Night class for them is the most convenient time to study.

CONCLUSIONS

The researcher concluded that the working student having night class, has least

time together with their families and having night class and working at the same day really

affects their health. Most of the respondents are motivated by their families, and inspired

by their dreams despite of difficulties. Most of them prioritize both work and study. The

least of them are coming to school late because of work. And most of the respondents

chose night class because it’s giving them a flexible schedule for work.

RECOMMENDATIONS

The researcher conducted survey to 63 respondents studying at ICCT Colleges

Cainta Campus. As our research goes by, researcher determine what are the Effects of

having a Night Class to a Working Students. Most of them said that the disadvantages of

the said schedule when it comes to their Health, Family and Studies.

With the research that conducted it’s truly important that we know how to manage

time, how you will divide your day to work and school obligations. Know your

responsibilities well and make your own time table to feel stress free. Everyone should

know the meaning of the word SELF DISCIPLINE. If you keep to yourself that word, the

numbers of negative effects of having a night class will be lessen.

The researcher strongly recommended those students in not giving up their

dreams despite of all the challenges and difficulties they are facing in terms of health,

financial, social and family matters. When you feel you are already tired just take a deep

breath, close your eyes and pray. Just continue to strive harder and reach your goal no

matter what happen. Take all the negative things and negative thoughts in a positive way

so that you will never feel hopeless and helpless in reaching what you really want. Just

keep working and keep studying. Dream, Believe and you will survive.
