My Reflection about the Movie “INVICTUS”

The movie inspired me in the sense that, Nelson Mandela, despite being thrown to prison,
wrongly accused of crimes he never committed, by the white people and working as slave, yet
was not vindictive. I came to realized that to be forgiving is freeing yourself from anxiety, giving
you peace of mind.
The moment he became President, what is inspiring here is, that he retains white people
as part of his staff and even added more, in contrast to belief of many that the whites shall be
dismissed. The lesson I learned here is, reached out more to those who dislike me, and eventually
win their trust and confidence.
The leadership practices of Mandela, I consider unique is the way how he treated people
especially during the World Cup. I believe, he is committed to lead from values, personal aura he
projected upon meeting someone, no racial discrimination, hopefully I can trimmed down my
ego, but I still have the room.
He warmly welcome and treats everyone around him with great respect and appreciation,
if Pienaar of Springbooks admired him for his vision, how I wished I can also have inspired a
shared vision, like to have unity among CPC employees and the top management.
As I challenge the HRM teachers to work harmoniously for the proposed accreditation
and TESDA training and other tedious tasks, Mandela on his own consistently challenges his staff
to think differently about issues and policies as in the sense he told the black head of security to
work with the whites who are more experienced than them and working as team. I need
teamwork to do the tasks for the HRM department’s realization of our goals.
When Mandela challenges Pienaar to be positive and creative to win, he believes in the
possibility of Pienaar leading the team to be trained better. I should say that, when top
management told me, that I can have the department accredited, it is moral boosting. The trust
and confidence is really that matters most.
I should and shall appreciate even petty things done to me my others so as knowing their
families, things I often ask students as what Mandela exemplifies his appreciation of the people
around him.
The movie teach me about leadership, forgiveness, role modelling, establishing and
sustaining rapport.
