Warm up: Look at the pictures on page 13. (5mns)


a. What story would you like to hear? Rank them from 1 (very much) to 6 (not much)
b. Do you prefer to tell stories about yourself or hear stories from other people? Why?

I. Presentation stage (20mns)


1. Pre- teach vocabulary (adverb by translation)

2. Set the scene
Teacher asks the students to read the sentences and look at the pictures on page
14 . Teacher asks the questions do you remember our vocabularies. What are
they? How about the pictures?
3. Introduce to target items
 Teacher explains about sentence adverbs on page 14
An adverb or adverbial phrase that expresses a writer's or speaker's attitude to the
content of the sentence in which it occurs (such as frankly, obviously), or places the
sentence in a particular context (such as technically, politically).
 Usage
The traditional definition of an adverb is that it is a word that modifies the meaning of a verb,
an adjective, or another adverb, as in, for example, he shook his head sadly. However, another
important function of some adverbs is to comment on a whole sentence, either expressing the
speaker's attitude or classifying the discourse. For example, in sadly, he is rather overbearing,
sadly does not mean that he is overbearing in a sad manner: it expresses the speaker's attitude
to what is being stated. Traditionalists take the view that the use of sentence adverbs is
inherently suspect and that they should always be paraphrased, e.g. using such wording as it is
sad that he is rather overbearing. A particular objection is raised to the sentence adverbs
hopefully and thankfully, since they cannot even be paraphrased in the usual way (see
hopefully and thankfully). Nevertheless, there is overwhelming evidence that such usages are
well established and widely accepted in everyday speech and writing

4. Check comprehension: Teacher asks the students to complete the task on page
14 and 15.
5. Draw attention to the target items: teacher asks the students to a question
What were you doing at 7 o’clock this morning? Then the first student asks the
same question to next student and continues to the whole class.
6. Do concept check: teacher prepares the scrip for student to listen
Students have to complete the sentence by their own ideas and when they
finish they have to read it out loud.

II. Guide practice stage: Practice conversation about sharing news (20mns)

 Ask the student the 2 questions and listen to the conversation:


Have you ever shared the news before?
Look at the picture and guess what were they doing?
What news is Diana sharing?
 Ask the a student to read Announcing news on page 16 (teacher explains)
 Ask another student to read Closing a conversation (teacher explains)
III. Communication Practice stage ( 15 mns)
1. Less-communication practice: Guessing game
Teacher prepares a picture describe about her activities in the mornig and asks
them what were I doing after I woke up this morning? And what were the
activities after doing exercise?

2. Communicative practice: Describe your activities this morning (two students)
IV. Developing positive attitude (15)
Teacher asks questions to students:
Can you share the news to your friends?
Can you describe something in the past?
V. Lesson closure: (5mns)
 Teacher summary the lesson
