All works to be performed by qualified surveyor. A preliminary survey for locating

the centerline of pipe line alignment on the ground shall be carried out as follows.
A) Surveyor shall make a preliminary survey along the route of the proposed
pipeline to establish and flag control points.
B) Surveyor shall locate and identify the existing features or obstructions along
the route that are shown in avail. Maps and drawings.
Prior to the possession of land, an access to Site Protocol will be agreed with
client. The entire pipeline route will be established with reference to the route
maps and alignment sheets approved by Company. The Pipeline route survey will
be carried out by means of calibrated survey equipments like DGPS,GPS,EDM,
theodolite, dumpy level, Inclinometers and ranging rods etc... Benchmarks,
inspection points and other required markers would be installed. (KPTL.
Surveyors will carry out all survey works.

STAKING OF PIPELINE ROUTE:

KPTL. will ensure that the pipe line defining trench centre line shall be staked

by placing suitable painted marker stakes at TP's and IP's between consecutive

TP'S.

The pipeline centre line shall be staked on the ground, the TP's shall be
I
"---- staked on the ground, After locating the marking the TP's the intermediate

points shall be staked at the intervals of 500mtr. Along the centre line of pipe

line. The inter section points and TP's shall be serially numbered from the

starting point.

All marker stakes shall be precast reinforced concrete blocks having

150x200x800mm deep and shall be buried to a depth of 500mm. The exposed
surface of concrete blocks shall be painted with post office red and all letters
and figures shall be painted white.

The normal width of the ROU will be 20 m. On certain locations, the width may
be restricted due to imposed site conditions. The regular restricted working
width shall be defined on approved alignment sheets.. KPTL will ensure that
the width of the working strip will be visible at all times. Surveyor will locate,
identify, and notify the existing features or obstructions along the route that are
not shown in current alignment sheets, maps, and drawings. If the existing
alignment cannot be followed due to obstacles or other issues, a better route
may be suggested and a request for change made to the Company. In
exceptional cases if boundary markers or marked points are removed during
construction they will be re-instated after construction in consultation with Client.
Any change in routing need to be approved by Engineer - in - charge fowner.
In the area which is not being cultivated and not fertile, removal and separation
of top soil will be of no benefit, and only single heap of excavated soil will be
made.
KTPL will provide suitable access wherever the ROU crosses Marshy area or
water logged area based on site condition if it is possible or similar areas
where the soil bearing capacity is inadequate to permit safe passage. KPTL.
will install all required temporary culverts in all drainage ditches, canals and
creeks and other drainage structures or provide suitable diversion. For any
damages if caused during the construction operations KPTL will be
responsible for its re-instatement in original condition or better.

KPTL will ensure that all temporary culverts are removed upon completion of
the works and all drainage ditches, canals and creeks and other drainage
structures are reinstated to the satisfaction of client.

KPTL will ensure that the working width shall be kept clean during the
construction period.

In cases of change in direction or side bends one stake shall be installed at the
center of the bend and 100 m on both sides along the route of pipeline on the
center line shall be installed by yellow paint marks.

The horizontal angle of deflection will be measured by placing the theodolite

over the turning point.
The theodolite will be placed over the intersection point (IP) and the horizontal
scale shall be set as '0', viewing either side of the IP. Then the horizontal scale
will be turned to view the other IP. The horizontal angle is measurement
between the two points.
KTPL will use owner approved benchmarks along the route.
Permanent bench marks (8M) approximately every 5 km or permanent
structures on or off the Right Of Use (ROU) shall be established and described
by the surveyor.
KPTL will ensure that site investigations will be made to locate and mark all
existing third party lines using pipe locators, other utilities, monuments,
archeological site, graves etc. in the area affected by the works. Proper
precautions shall be taken to avoid damage to the above at the vicinity of
ROU.
During the survey, special care shall be taken for crossings.

a. General: All possible efforts shall be made to ensure that crossings are made at
right angles. The surveyor will record the angles of crossing for all fences,
property lines, utilities, roads, railways, canals, streams etc. that are crossed.
True bearings of the centerline of road, railway, canal, as well as that of pipeline
center will be recorded. Turning points near crossings will be at least 50 m from
crossing boundaries in stable and firm ground.

b. Railway Crossing: The angles for all railway crossings will be close to 90
degrees. The minimum permissible angle will be 85 degree between the center
line of railway track and pipeline.

c. Primary Road Crossing: National and State Highways, all whether roads and
roads providing access to major installations will be designated as primary
roads. The angle of crossing will be close to 90 degrees. The minimum
permissible angle will be 80 degree between the center line of road and
pipeline.
d. Secondary Road Crossing: All seasonal roads, unpaved village roads, cart
tracks, etc. will be designated as secondary roads. The angle of crossing will be

as close to 90 degrees as possible. The minimum permissible angle will be 45

degree between the center line of road and pipeline.

e. River I Stream I Nala Crossing: These crossings shall be established as close

as possible to the location shown in the maps I alignment sheets. Crossings will
be located in a comparatively straight reach of the river where the banks are
stable and there is sufficient area for construction. The angle is required to be
as close to 90 degree as possible.

f. Canals I Drainage ditch: The angle is required to be as close to 90 degree as

possible. The minimum permissible angle will be 60 degree between the center
line of canal I drainage ditch and pipeline. Location of crossing will be selected
such that evidence of slumping or erosion of banks, beds is not there.

g. Utility Crossing: Utilities crossed will be located at their centerline with stakes
containing station numbers. The angle of crossings will be measured and
location established relative to above ground facilities. The names and sizes of
all utility lines will be included in the survey notes. In the cases of overhead
power and telephone lines, the distance to the poles and towers on each side of
the survey line will be measured, and the numbers of poles or towers will be
noted. In case of over head of powerl telephone cables, the distance in the
poles & towers on each side of survey lines should be measured. Survey line
I

'--- shall be established so that a minimum distance of 50mtr from survey line to
nearest high tension pole or tower is maintained.

h. Existing Pipelines: Topographical survey of existing pipelines in consultation

with Client shall be carried out by KTPL and data containing co ordinates shall
be supplied .Any marker of the existing pipeline will be surveyed and copy of
Drg. will be handed over to HMPL I ElL. In case certain marker post removed
temporarily the same shall be put back with the help of above drawings.

6.0 MEASUREMENTS
All the measurements taken by the surveyor will be recorded in the daily
