LITERATURE SURVEY

The evolution of composite material has replaced most of the conventional material of
construction in automobile, aviation industry etc. Fiber reinforced composites have been widely
successful in hundreds of applications where there was a need for high strength materials. There
are thousands of custom formulations which offer FRPs a wide variety of tensile and flexural
strengths. When compared with traditional materials such as metals, combination of high
strength for improving a product’s design and performance.
D.V.Soulioti : has worked on Effects of Fiber Geometry and Volume Fraction on the Flexural
Behavior of Steel-Fiber Reinforced Concrete . The compressive strength, flexural strength were
studied and compared with unreinforced concrete. The effect of fiber on workability and air
content properties of fresh concrete was also evaluated
Ghosni et. Al : has worked on Flexural behaviour of high strength concrete composite
incorporating long hooked end steel fibers. In this research long hooked steel fibers have been
added to mix and compressive strength, flexural strength of concrete have been found out for 7,
28 and 56 and 14, 28, and 56 days.
Dipan patel : has worked on Use of steel fiber in rigid pavements. In this research crimped steel
fibers of aspect ratio 50 as 0.4 and 0.5% of volume fraction have been added to mix and
compression and flexural strength of concrete have been found out for 7 and 28 days . and
percentage reduction in the pavement thickness to be found out.
Ravindra v.solanki : has worked on Use of steel fibers in concrete pavement :this paper reviews
the studies which establish the use of steel fiber in many effective ways in improving the strength
and improvement in fatigue life of pavement together with developing improve resistance to
crack
Nagananda .v: has worked on study on compressive behavior of steel fiber reinforced concrete.
In this research hooked end steel fibers of aspect ratio 65 and 80 as 0.3,0.7and 1.1% of volume
fraction have been added to mix and compression and split tensile strength of concrete have
been found out for 7 and 28 days.
Srikanthragi : has worked on A comparative and experimental study on mechanical properties
of various steel and glass fiber reinforced high strength concrete .In this paper effect of fibers on
the different mechanical properties of grade M70 have been studied . compression split tensile
and flexural strength of concrete have been found out for 7 and 28 days.

Raghunath and k.suguna : has worked on Flexural behavior of high strength steel fiber
reinforced concrete beams by In this study total 4 beams of 3m length and 150mmx250mm in
cross section were casted and tested in laboratory. Three different steel fibers volume were taken
i.e. 0.5%, 1% and 1.5%. All beams were tested under two point load condition in a loading frame
of 750kn capacity.
Vikrant s. Valragade and kavita s. Kene : has worked on Introduction to steel fiber reinforced
concrete on engineering performance of concrete. Steel fiber reinforced concrete is used for long
lasting sustainable concrete structures. All over the world is using steel fiber as fiber reinforced
concrete.
E.Arunakanthi :has worked on Experimental studies on fiber reinforced concrete (FRC). In the
present work the strength studies are carried out to compare the glass and steel fiber concrete.
The FRC is added 0.5, 1, 2 and 3% are added for M20 grade concrete. Result shows the
percentage increase in compressive strength, flexural strength and split tensile strength for
28days. Result shows the percentage increase in compressive strength, flexural strength and split
tensile strength for 28days.
K.R.Venkatesan : has worked on flexural behavior of high strength steel fiber reinforced
concrete beams .This paper presents the results of experimental study conducted to examine the
effectiveness of steel fiber in enhancing flexural capacity of high strength concrete (HSC)
beams. Three different steel fiber volume fractions (0.5%, 1.0% & 1.5%) were adopted .All the
beams were tested under two-point load condition in a loading frame of capacity 750kN.
