TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
FOR
MV SHUNT CAPACITOR BANKS AND
ANCILLARY EQUIPMENT

1. GENERAL

1.1. Scope

This specification covers shunt capacitor banks and the design, manufacturing and test
requirements of their Protection-Measurement-Control Panel to be purchased for use on MV
distribution systems

Connection schemes and technical characteristics of MV shunt capacitors and their Protection-
Measurement-Control Panel to be purchased are specified in the attached one-line diagram, Bill of
Materials and/or Schedule of Guaranteed Characteristics.

Shunt capacitor banks (indicated in the attached one-line diagram) in the scope of this specification
shall be supplied complete with capacitor units, steel construction, busbar post insulators, busbars,
external fuses, current transformer for unbalance protection, all parts required for the erection of
the banks and erected complete Protection-Measurement-Control Panel and fittings necessary for
installation.

Unless otherwise stated in the Bill of Materials following equipment and services shall be supplied
by the PURCHASER:

a) Concrete foundations, anchor bolts and their civil works and any other civil works required for
the installation of the banks,
b) Erection of equipment at site,
c) Connection of the banks to MV network
d) Construction of the security fencing around the banks,

1.2. Definitions

i) Pole type shunt capacitor bank; shall be mounted on the pole and connected to power
transmission line through disconnecting switches combined with earthing switches and fuses

ii) Crossarm type shunt capacitor bank; shall be mounted on the wall of the building from
outside and to be connected to MV busbar through circuit-breaker

iii) Sub-station type shunt capacitor bank: shall be installed from outside within the fence of MV
switchyard and shall be connected to the MV busbar through circuit-breaker.

1.3. Standards

The equipment to be supplied within the scope of this specification shall be designed,
manufactured and tested according to the latest editions of the following standards.

IEC 871 - 1 Shunt capacitors for a.c. power systems having a rated voltage above 660 V

IEC 549 High voltage fuses for the external protection of shunt power capacitors

IEC 593 Internal fuses and internal overpressure disconnectors for shunt condensators.

IEC 871 - 2 Endurance testing of shunt power capacitors for a.c. power systems having a rated
voltage above 660 V

Other components and protection and control equipment shall also be in compliance with the IEC
standards and technical specifications of the Purchaser in force, even if they are not explicitly
specified in this specification.

If any other standards with equivalent or higher requirements are applied, Turkish or English
copies of them shall be submitted with the Bid.

1.4. Service Conditions

If not otherwise specified in the Material Lists Shunt subject Capacitor Banks to be supplied shall
be appropriate for use with the below mentioned operation conditions.

2. TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

2.1. Capacitor Units

- The voltage and power ratings of the capacitor units shall be as specified in the Bill of Materials.

All capacitor units shall be interchangeable within each bank, for the banks having the same
system voltage and ambient temperature.

- The capacitance of the units at 20 C shall not differ from rated capacitance by more than -5 %
and + 10 %.

- The capacitors shall be capable for 12 hours per 24 hours operation at an applied voltage up to
1.10 times rated voltage and for continuous operation with current 1.30 times rated current
which occurs at rated voltage and rated frequency at the maximum ambient temperature
specified. They shall also be capable of being energized at the minimum specified ambient
temperature.

- The dielectric of capacitor element shall be 100 % polypropylene film or other material with
better characteristics .

- Capacitors units shall be impregnated only with non-PCB (nonpolychbrinated biphenyyis) type
liquid. The Bidder shall submit detailed information about the chemical composition and physical
properties of the impregnating liquid used, its commercial operational experience and the
stability tests performed.

- All the individual elements within the capacitor unit shall be rigidly secured and all connections
shall be capable of withstanding without deterioration all current surges which can occur during
normal operation conditions.

- Capacitor units with rated voltages of 6.3, 10.5, 15.8 kV shall be with two bushings and with
rated voltages of 31.5, 33, 34.5 kV shall be with one bushing without gasket.

- The containers of the capacitors units shall be hermetically sealed, leak free, corrosion resistant
over the normal industrial life expectancy of capacitors, resistant to frequent load and ambient
temperature variations and must not repture in case of element punctures. Containers shall be
made of stainless steel. The Bidder shall describe in the bid the method of painting to be used .

- The containers of capacitor units; shall have corrosion resistance with its full operation life for
the load and ambient temperature differences. In case the elements are worn with holes the
containers shall not be damaged.

- The containers shall be hermetic type with stainless steel material. The Bidder shall indicate the
painting method of the container with the proposal.

- The containers of capacitor units with one bushing shall have a terminal for grounding or for
connection to the metal supporting structure insulated from ground. The grounding terminals
shall be independent from mechanical connection bolts or lugs.

- Discharging resistors of the capacitor units shall be selected to decrease the voltage of the

capacitor unit to below 50 V within 5 minutes.

2.2. Fuses

- Capacitor units shall be protected against faults by external or internal type fuses. External type
fuses shall comply with IEC 549 and internal type fuses shall comply with IEC 593 standards.

- Fuses shall be capable of carrying continuously a current of at least 1,43 times the rated current
active value of the associated unit.

- Fuses shall be capable of disconnecting a faulty unit or element under all operating conditions
without damage to other healty units, elements or fuses.

- Fuses must not operate or be detoriated or damaged from the inrush currents that may result
from switching operations or discharge of healty units because of external or internal faults.

- External fuses shall be of expulsion type and especially designed to protect shunt capacitor
units and shall isolate the capacitor units when actuated. A reliable expulsion element shall be
provided showing that the fuse has blown. Fuses shall be easily accessible for inspection and
replacement.

- Bursting strength of fuse body must be able to withstand an energy input of high frequency
discharge current.

- Dimensions of fuses shall be designed to ensure in any event that the energy released into a
faulty capacitor unit shall not cause to bursting of the container.

- Fuses shall be capable of clearing a faulty unit or element over a voltage range from 0,9 to 2,0
times the rated voltage. After the fuse operation the capacitor unit or element shall be able to
withstand voltages of 1.5 times of the rated voltage.

- When an internal fuse operated the occurred damages should not cause any reduction in the
dielectric characteristics of internal insulating medium.

- During routine factory tests of the units with internal fuses should an internal fuse operate, that
capacitor unit shall not be accepted even if the capacitance of the capacitor unit remains within
the tolerance limits.

2.3. Capacitor Banks

- Capacitor banks with output power of 900 kVAr and above shall be designed for a split two star
connection. Capacitor banks of 900 kVAr output power shall consist of 6 units and those of 1200

kVAr or over shall consist of 12 units. The capacitor banks of 900-1200-1800-2400-3600 kVAr
within the same voltage groups, shall have the same dimensions and characteristics and shall
have a modular design so that obtaining different power steps is possible only by changing the
capacitor units.

- Output power of the pole type and crossarm type banks shall not exceed 600 kVAr, shall have
the same dimensions and characteristics and shall have the same dimensions and the
characteristics and shall have a modular design so that obtaining different power steps is
possible only by changing the capacitor units.

- The capacitance of the bank at the temperature of + 20 C shall not differ from rated capacitance
by more than -5% or + 10%. Furthermore, the capacitance difference between two phases shall
not deviate by more than ± 1 %. (For banks consisting of 12 or more units.)

- Metal construction of the banks shall be made of hot-dip galvanized steel, racks of aluminium
alloy or hot-dip galvanized steel and the busbars of aluminium.

- All post insulators to be used at the banks shall be the same type and shal have the same
characteristics so that they are interchangeable.

- Steel construction of the banks shall have a design to provide adequate ventilation for the
capacitor units.

- Design of the supporting frames of the capacitor banks shall be based on the following
parameters:
a) wind load : 125 kg/m2
b) safety factor : 2, minimum
c) safety multiplying factor of the insulators under the maximum
continuous mechanical load : 3.5, minimum

- Details of design calculations verifying the safety factors required shall be submitted to the
Purchaser before starting production.

2.4. Protection-Measurement-Control Panel

The Protection-Measurement-Control Panel, shall be designed and manufactured in accordance


with the PURCHASER’S in force technical specifications and annexed single line diagrams.

The principal of the seconder protection and control system shall be as given below.

- Overcurrent protection (two phase),

- Grounding overcurrent protection,

- Overvoltage protection

Overvoltage protection, make the capactor bank out of service when busbar voltage rises to 120%
for five minutes and stop putting the bank back to service until the busbar voltage drops to 100%. -
- Unbalance protection,

At star-star banks ‘unbalance protection’ shall have an overcurrent relay fed from current
transformer connected to two star point. During switching temporary regimes etc. should not let
unwanted openings. Unbalance protection protection relays, shall be able to leave a bank out of
service when the fuse of capacitor relay operates.

- Protection and control equipment signals shall be installed into the panel recessed and wired to
signal lamp box.

- Voltages at capacitor terminals, there shall be a locking system to protect energizing through
relay and manual until the voltage drops to 10% of rated voltage.

- The capacitor banks reactive power (Var) shall be controlled with a control relay.

Shall put the busbar to service when the busbars reactive power increases to over the set point
with a time interval. Likewise, put the busbar out of service when reactive power drops below the
set point with a time interval. Time and reactive power values shall be set to lowest and highest
values seperately. This operation can be made through a single relay (time relay etc.) or can be
made through a combination of auxiliary relays.

- The control voltages of the equipment shall conform to the material lists.

2.5. Nameplates

Additionally to the information required in the (IEC 871-1) standard on the shunt capacitor bank
and unit there shall be weather proof and visible nameplates including the following information.

- type and serial number

- discharge time and voltage

- standard

- Purchaser’s name and purchase order number

Furthermore on each capacitor unit and bank there shall be a red warning sign of danger of life.
The terminals of the bank shall be visibly marked as A, B and C.

2.6. Anticorrosion Precautions

2.6.1. General

Metal parts shall be made of corrosion resistant material and the surfaces shall be finished in such
a way that corrosion is minimised.

The following precautions shall be taken against corrosion:

- All current carrying parts shall be made of non-ferrous metals.

- Materials and combinations of materials used in the construction of the equipment shall be
selected and arranged to prevent galvanic corrosion.

- Aluminium alloy materials carrying current or used as structural part shall be resistant to
corrosion.

- All ferrous parts shall be galvanized.

- Surfaces to be protected from corrosion shall be sound, clean, undamaged free from foreign
materials effecting the life of the coating inversely.

2.6.2. Painting

The surfaces of the capacitors to be painted shall be cleaned by a physical or chemical method
before painting. The painting should start immediately after surface preparation. The external
surfaces shall be painted with a finishing coat after priming coat. The paint to be used shall be
resistant to environmental conditions. The painting method shall be as proposed by the
manufacturer and shall be approved by the Purchaser. The thickness of the coating shall be 65 ±
15 microns.

Quality of the paint shall be determined by checking thickness and adhesion of the coating.

Thickness of the coating shall be measured by a paint inspection gauge at five points selected
random.

The film adhesion shall be checked at five points selected random by adhesive tape test as per TS
4313/ASTM D 3359. The degree of adhesion shall not be worse than Class-4 specified in this

standard.

2.6.3. Galvanizing

If hot-dip galvanized steel sheets are used at the manufacture of capacitor banks, they shall
comply with the TS 822 or ISO 4998 standards.

Zinc coating mass (the total amount of zinc on both surfaces of sheet of one square meter) of hot-
dip galvanized steel sheet shall be;

- according to TS 822, nominal value 381 g/m -max. (the average of the triple spot test shall be

275 g/m ), or

- according to ISO 4998, the average of the triple spot test shall be 275 g/m2 (class Z 275).

Other galvanizing and tests of galvanized surfaces other than galvanized steel sheets used at the
manufacture of capacitor banks shall be made in accordance with ISO 1459, 1460, 1461 and TS
914 about hot-dip galvanizing.

Unless otherwise specified, the thickness of zinc coating shall be in accordance with Table-I of TS
914. Hot-dip galvanizing of metal parts, including the threads of bolts and screwed rods shall be
carried out after all machining, bending, cutting, drilling, punching, marking and welding operations
have been carried out and the surfaces to be galvanized shall be cleaned by sand blasting,
chemical cleaning etc.methods. Galvanized nuts after cleanning by tapping shall be lubricated with
a water-resisting, rust-inhibiting oil.

Small parts, which can not be painted or hot-dip galvanized, shall be electrogalvanized or made of
stainless steel. The thickness of electrogalvanizing shall not be less than 12 microns.

3. TESTS

The tests of the capacitor banks and ancillary equipment shall be carried out according to the
relevant standards and to the specifications of the Purchaser.

3.1. Type Tests

a) Capacitor Unit:

The type tests which shall be carried out on capacitor units according to IEC 871-1 are the
followings:

- Thermal stability test (Clause 13)


- Capacitor loss tangent (tan δ) measurement at elevated temperature (Clause 14)
- A.C. voltage test between terminals and container (Clause 15)
- Lightning impulse voltage test between terminals and container (Clause 16)
- Short-circuit discharge test (Clause 17)
- Endurance test (this test shall be as per IEC 871-2)
- Test of adhesion of paint coating (as per Sub-Clause 2.6.2.)

b) Steel Construction:
Galvanize test (as per Sub-Clause 2.6.3.)

c) Other Equipment:

The type tests of current transformers for unbalance protection, post insulators, external fuses
, busbars and Protection-Measurement-Control Panel shall be carried out according to the
technical specifications in force of the Purchaser and/or the relevant IEC and TS standards in
force.

3.2. Routine Tests

a) Capacitor Unit:
The routine tests which shall be carried out according to IEC-871-1 on each capacitor unit are
the followings:
- Capacitance measurement (Clause 7)
- Capacitor loss tangent (tan δ) measurement (Clause 8)
- d.c. voltage test between terminals (Clause 9)
- A.C. voltage test between terminals and container (Clause 10)
- Test of the internal discharge resistor (Clause 11)
- Sealing test (Clause 12)
- Measuremet of the thickness of the coating (as per Sub-clause 2.6.2.)
b) Other equipment:

The routine tests of current transformers for unbalance protection, post insulators, external
fuses, busbars and Protection-Measurement-Control Panel shall be carried out according to
the technical specifications in force of the Purchaser and/or the relevant IEC and TS
standards.

c) Steel construction:
Measurement of thickness of galvanizing.
d) Complete Capacitor Bank as Erected:
- visual inspection
- measurement of capacitance of each phase to check the symmetry

3.3. Acceptance Tests and Sampling

10% of the party submitted for acceptance shall be selected as sample by the representatives of
the Purchaser.

Unless otherwise specified in the Contract documents and their attachments, acceptance tests
shall consist of the followings:

- Type tests specified in Sub-Clause 3.1.

The Purchaser may request total or partial repetition of type tests as acceptance tests. Type
tests (if requested) shall be performed on sample(s) of each type of the supply.

- Routine tests specified in Sub-Clause 3.2.

All routine tests shall be repeated on samples of each supplied party. Reports of routine tests
of the manufacturer submitted for post insulators, external fuses, current transformers for
unbalance protection shall be accepted. If deemed necessary by the Purchaser such tests
shall be repeated in the presence of the Purchaser.

3.4. Acceptance Criteria

a) All type tests shall have a positive result.

If any type test has a negative result, the Purchaser, if has an opinion that reliable functioning
of the equipment can be lost, can reject all of the equipment of the same type in the order. The
Purchaser, unobjectionable judgement, may accept the Supplier’s proposal of making
modification at the design of the equipment within a reasonable period of time and repetition of
all type tests specified in the Specification at its own expense.

b) All routine tests shall have a positive result within allowable tolerances (if any). If any routine
test has a negative result, the test(s) shall be repeated on all of the equipment of the same
type forming the party. In this case, the defective units shall be replaced with the new ones or
repaired at full expense of the Supplier.

3.5. Provisions for Acceptance Tests

i) If the Bidder fails to submit any type test reports with the bid or if the submitted reports were
found as unsufficiant, as per the provisions of the Contract all or a part of the type tests
specified in Sub-Clause 3.1. shall be carried out, at the Supplier’s cost, in the
Manufacturer’s premises or in an independent laboratory located in Turkey or abroad.

ii) If performing of some of the type tests abroad is foreseen in the contract, if positive test
reports of the type tests is not subitted to the Purchaser beforehand, other acceptance tests
shall not be started. The Supplier shall not claim any extension of time for possible delays in
the delivery program due to carrying out the acceptance tests.

No payment shall be made to the Supplier before the conclusion of the acceptance tests.

ii) Notwithstanding with the acceptance of type test reports submitted with the bid, or the
positive results of acceptance tests of the delivery of the first party, the Purchaser, at its
unobjectionable judgement, may request total or partial repetition of the type tests for the first
and succeeding parties of the delivery, at the Manufacturer’s premises or in an independent
laboratory located in Turkey or abroad.

For the type tests in Turkey or abroad, sufficient number of samples according to the
requirements of the standards shall be selected by the Purchaser’s representatives. For the
type tests abroad the sample(s) shall be sealed and dispatched to the laboratory the tests are
going to be made.

In case that positive results are obtained from these tests, all expences shall be paid by the
Purchaser in YTL from the prices of the tests in the Contract, if the test prices in the contract
are in foreign currencies, it shall be converted to YTL from the sales exchange rates of the
Central Bank of Turkey at the date of the test.

In case of negative results of the tests, all test expences shall be paid by the Supplier and the
remaining part of the order shall be cancelled.

3.6. Acceptance Procedure

i) The Purchaser shall have the right to inspect and/or to test the Goods at the premises of the
Supplier or its subcontractor(s) and/or at point of final delivery. The Supplier shall furnish to
the Purchaser’s representatives all facilities and assistance for inspections and tests.

ii) The Supplier shall submit to the Purchaser the test and inspection program after signing the
Contract. The Supplier shall notify the Purchaser at least 20 (twenty) days in advance of the
active date of the beginning of the tests to be performed abroad, and 7(seven) days in
advance of the active date of the beginning of the tests to be performed in Turkey.

iii) Performing all routine tests at the Manufacturer’s premises is the basis. During the
acceptance tests, if there are any tests not performed although stated in the Contract to be

performed at the Manufacturer’s premises, all provisions to perform such tests within 15
(fifteen) days of the date of commencement of the acceptance tests. Otherwise it shall be
concluded that the materials are not ready for acceptance. The date of the delayed tests
shall be accepted as the delivery date, provided that the test results are submitted to the
Purchaser within 7 (seven) days. However, the Purchaser reserves the right to implement the
relevant terms of the Contract, concerning the delay.

iv) The tests shall be carried out in the presence of the Purchaser’s representatives. The test
reports shall include the serial number(s) of the sample(s) and the information necessary for
identification of all main parts of the samplesand the test reports shall be so arranged that
the compliance of the material to this specification and its attachments shall be clearly stated,
and then countersigned. In case of positive results of tests, a Release Note for the shipment
of relevant party of material shall be given by the Purchaser’s representative.

The Purchaser may notify the Supplier that he will not be present at the tests in due time. In
this case, the Supplier shall proceed with the tests and submit the test results to the
Purchaser. The test reports thus prepared and signed by the Supplier shall be sent to the
Purchaser in 5 copies for check and approval. If the test reports are approved, the Purchaser
shall issue a Release Note for shipment and return 1 approved copy of the Test Report to the
Supplier.If the Purchaser’s representative was not present at the tests carried out abroad,
after completion of the tests, the sample(s) shall be sealed by the laboratory and shipped
back. The sample(s) shall be inspected by the representatives of the Purchaser at the
Manufacturer’s plant.

v) The Purchaser’s right to inspect, test, and where necessary, reject the material after the
material’s arrival in the final destination shall in no way be limited or waived by reason of the
material’s having previously been inspected, tested and passed by the Purchaser or its
representative prior to the material’s shipment.

vi) Nothing in this clause shall in any way release the Supplier from any warranty or other
obligations under this Contract.

4. MISCELLANEOUS CONDITIONS

4.1. Packing and Transportation

Capacitor banks and other epuipment shall be packed suitably against breakage and injury due to
mechanical effects and vibration during transport, loading, unloading and long-term storage and
shall be protected from humidity, dust and other environmental effects. Moving or removable parts
shall be reliably secured. The Bidder shall specify, in the bid, the packing method proposed,
packing dimensions and weight of the largest unit.

Following information shall be written on each pack:

- Manufacturer’s name

- Purchaser’s purchase order number


- Main characteristics of the capacitor units and the banks (rated voltage, output power,
connection scheme, busbar nominal current etc.)
- Names and quantities of functional unit(s)
- Crate number
- Crate dimensions
- Net and gross weight of the crete
- Purchasers’s name and destination
- Purchaser’s material code number

4.2. Spare Parts

İf specified with the Material List;

Shall be supplied as spare parts.

The Bidders shall submit with their bids a list of spare parts indicating the quantities and the unit
prices for the components which may become defective and shall have to be replaced.

4.3. Special Tools and Test Equipment

The Bidders shall submit with the bid the list of special tools and test equipment necessary for
mounting, maintenance and adjustment of the components and shall supply the components with
the capacitors.

Should the ‘Capacitor Banks with Internal Fuses’ be proposed, for each 5 bank one ‘Capacitance
Measuring Equipment’ for the measurement of the capacitor unit shall be included in the supply
free of charge. The measuring equipment shall have the speciality to carry out the measurement
without isolating the capacitor units from the banks.

4.4. Documents to be Submitted With the Bid

The Bidders shall submit with the bid following documents for each offered type, arrangement and
feature of capacitor units, banks and components used .

- Schedule of Guaranteed Characteristics

Bidders are requred to fill-in and sign the attached Schedule of Guaranteed Characteristics for
each item and enclose one copy of each with their bids. Information given in these schedules

will be binding to the Manufacturer.

- Type test reports or certificates

Bidders shall submit with their bids, reports or certificates of type tests carried out in an
independent laboratory. Reports of type tests which were carried out with the presence of
Purchaser’s representatives during the previous orders, shall be acceptable. The test reports
must belong to the type of equipment offered. The Purchaser, if he deems necessary, may ask
the Supplier the proof that the test reports belong to the type of equipment offered.

For the endurance tests conditions specified in IEC 871-2 standard is required.

If the equipment offered are manufactured under a licence, type test report shall be for local
production. The test reports shall contain the name of the laboratory, names, titles, and
signatures of observers and persons performing the tests, and the date of tests.

The Purchaser reserves the right to determine to its satisfaction to evaluate the bids of the
Bidders who did not submit appropriate or any type test reports, provided that the type tests to
be carried out in Turkey shall be carried out on a sample unit to be selected out of the first
delivery lot, and the type tests to be carried out abroad shall be carried out before the first lot is
delivered, at the Supplier’s cost.

- TSE certificates,

- ISO 9001 or 9002 quality system certificate,

- Detailed catalogues, manuals for mounting, operation and maintenance instructions,

- Coordination of the fuses and the capacitor bank unbalance protection, fuse melting time under
the most unfavourable conditions and the recommended setting of the unbalance protection,

- Connection scheme in detail of the banks, number of parallel units per phase and protection
methods,

- Outline drawings of capacitor banks indicating general dimensions and weights,

- Painting method,

- Current vs time characteristics of external and internal fuses,

- Packing method, dimensions and weights,

- The largest transport dimensions,

- Works to be carried out on the ground at site where the banks shall be mounted,

- The list of recommended spare parts, the list of special tools and testing equipment

- List of equipment which shall be used on the capacitor bank and Protection-Measurement-
Control Panel (with Name of the manufacturer, type designation),

- Reference list

- Information and documents required in the relevant technical specification (for the equipment)

The Bidder’s failure to submit any of the documents required herein or any missing data may
entitle the Purchaser to reject the bid.

4.5. Documents to be Submitted for Approval

The supplier shall submit the following documents for approval within (1) month after placement of
the order.

4.6. Prices

The bid unit prices shall include the prices of

- Capacitor banks,

- Protection-Measurement-Control Panel, (complete with all components),

- Spare Parts in the Material Lists,

- Routine tests (including the routine tests to be repeated during acceptance)

- Special tools and testing equipment (per sub-clause 4.3),

- Packing.

The Bidders shall separately quote the prices of;

- Each of the type tests to be carried out in Turkey,

- Each of the type tests to be carried out abroad, including all the expenses such as the
laboratory test price, transportation, insurance etc.

- The spare parts which they recommend according to the Sub-Clause 4.4. shall be given
seperately.

4.7. Warranty

i) The Supplier shall warrant all material for design, materials or workmanship defects for a
period of 24 months starting from the date of delivery.

Should the equipment have defects, or become defective due to design, material and

workmanship defects within the warranty period, and if repairing is not possible at the place
of installation, their dismantling, transportation to the Manufacturer’s premises, repair,
transportation after repair to the place the Purchaser has indicated, and mounting as
necessary shall be executed without any request for payment.The Supplier shall deliver the
defective equipment to the Manufacturer’s premises within 15 days of the date of the written
notice, and shall deliver the repaired equipment to the destination to be indicated by the
Purchaser within 15 days of the date of the completion of the tests. If the Supplier fails to
comply with such delivery terms, or, if the Supplier, having been notified, fails to remedy the
defects, the Purchaser shall proceed to take such remedial action as may be necessary at
the Supplier’s expense. In this case the Purchaser shall collect the costs and expenses from
the payments or performance security of the Supplier.

The repaired or replaced equipment shall be covered by the same warranty stipulations.

ii) After the conclusion of Warranty Period, the Supplier shall warrant to provide the spares of
the equipment used in the capacitor banks and furthermore to conduct, if required by the
Purchaser, maintenance and repair works of scapacitor bank and equipment at the
Purchaser’s expense during a period of 10 (ten) years starting from the date of delivery

iii) At the end of the Warranty Period specified in paragraph (i) above, before the performance
security is released, the Supplier shall submit to the Purchaser a written decleration for his
obligations, stated in the paragraph (ii) above regarding the supply of spare parts and
conducting the maintenance and repair work.
