TESTPEN

Definition :

Testpen is a tool that is used to check or knowing whether or not there is an electrical voltage.
Testpen circuit is a screwdriver that has minus eye (-) with small size at the end of it. Testpen
also has clasps like a pen and inside it there is a LED that can light up as an indicator of
electrical voltage.

Function :

The function of testpen is to determine electrical voltage on an object, a machine and an

electric circuit is electric or not, another function is to open the screws of electrical appliance
components.

How to use :

a. Hold the testpen handle.

b. At end of the testpen is inserted in the outlet hole and Put in the end of testpen to
socket’s hole and put your forefinger to the base of testpen
c. If the LED lamp on the testpen is lights up it means the positive current and if the
lights is not on it means the negative current

Accuracy level :

Tespen usually can be used for power voltage 80 volt until 500 volt

How to know the result :

a. Hold the testpen with the fingertips.

b. place the bottom end of the tespen with the conductor to be tested.
c. After that stick the finger to the top of the pen test.
d. When the LED lamp / bulb on the pen test is lights up, there is a positive electric
current flow.

The part of testpen :

e
d

c
f

a. The end / eye of the tespen serves as the touch field of the electrically held object.
b. The carbon rod serves to inhibit some electrical current.
c. The LED / bulb lamp as an indicator.
d. Spring to put pressure on carbon and light against base of tespen.
e. The base of the tespen is made of metal as the tip of the touch of the finger.
f. The testpen handles are made of transparent material which used to keep the LED /
bulb lights on the testpen visible.

How to calibrate :

Testpen is calibrated automatically.

Type of testpen :

a. Normal Tespen (Screwdrivers using LED lights).

b. Digital Testpen is a type of test pen to measure the voltage of both ac-dc (12v-220v)
with lcd display so that we know how much voltage coming out of an electronic
device, electrical outlet, and so on.
How to care :

a. Keep the tespen in a safe place.

b. Clean the tespen with a dry cloth. Keep the tespen from getting wet.
c. Keep the tespen in a dry place. Try not to be exposed to direct sunlight.
