1. What was your experience of reading aloud your essay to your peers? i. My experience of reading my essay aloud was pretty good because it allowed me to realize what did make much sense or if the grammar was off. 2. What does it feel like to hear your own writing voice? i. It feels pretty weird because I do not normally read my stuff out loud when I have done my other essays. To me it sorta felt like my essay had a different message when I read it out loud because I did not have my conscious to backup my ideas. 3. How does it help you in the writing process? i. It helps you in the writing process because it allows to edit your own work because when you read it aloud you catch things that you would not normally catch. 4. What is the value of hearing your own writing voice when reading your work aloud? i. The value of hearing your own writing voice is that it allows you to understand what you trying to say but how it ended up on your paper. It shows you the miss connection between the words and your thoughts. 5. What did you learn about this essay by reading it aloud to your group? i. I learned that I had a lot of sentences that were missing some words which made my sentences not have the proper impact that they should have had. 2. Reflect on listening to others voices: How does listening to other people's writing voices help you to think about your own writing, or what does it teach you about the writing process in general? 1. It helps me with my writing because it allows me to reflect on my essay what I should change to make mine stronger. It also teaches me that everyone has mistakes and it is ok for your essay not to be perfect the first time around. 3. Reflect on your peer responses: Read over the annotations and comments that your group made on your essay. Then answer the following questions: 1. Do people seem to understand your thesis? Why or why not? i. People do seem to understand my thesis because it answers the focus question and is pretty straightforward in my opinion. 2. Were people able to identify your naysayer perspective and concession? Explain. i. Yes they were able to identify my naysayer and concession in my essay. I dedicated a whole paragraph for the naysayer and concession which made it stand out more than my peers had in there essays. 3. What are your strengths, according to the comments? Explain. i. The strengths of my essay of my essay according to my comments would be my thesis. Based on the comments I got they said that my introduction was pretty clear of summarizing the problem at hand. 4. What are the specific parts of the essay that need the most work, according to the comments? Explain and be sure to NAME the paragraphs, and or specific elements of the essay you need to work on (for example: developing your claims, providing stronger support, integrating your quotations, etc.) i. The parts of my essay that need the most work are my conclusion, thesis , and my naysayer/ Concession paragraph. I need to do a conclusion that ties all my ideas back up leaving the reader optimistic that things can changer for these children. For my naysayer paragraph I need to find better evidence or possibly just create a whole new paragraph for the evidence that I have now. My thesis needs to be reworded to so that it is less confusing to the reader. 5. Editing: What specific editing errors do you need to pay close attention to? Consider not just what your peer responders mentioned in today's workshop, but also, consider what your errors were in Essay 3. i. The errors I need to play close attention to are the tenses, spelling and punctuation in my essays. I need to have better sentence fluency as well. 4. Create a Revision Plan: 1. Final Draft of the Essay 4 is due on Monday, at 11:59pm: Write a bullet "to-do" list of what you need to do to ensure you revise and finish the essay, and save enough time to edit for: MLA in-text citation, a Works Cited page, spelling and punctuation, and other grammatical surface-level improvements. i. Finish the paragraphs that are not done ii. Create work cited iii. Make sure that I have everything cited properly iv. Proofread v. Have my classmates edit it. vi. Look over it one last time before submitting it.
