Universal Design for Learning (UDL): UDL will be addressed by creating a separate quiz in a student’s native
language. I would also allow students a great portion of time for those whose reading levels vary from the
majority.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
I would introduce this activity within the first week of school. I will tell students that this is an assessment
to see what they know prior to coming into my classroom, and that it will not count for a grade of any kind,
but will help me know where they are in their comprehension, and what I need to work on to ensure each
student’s success in the content area.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
X Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☐ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: The students will be given an iPad or
computer, and will log in to socrative. I will start the quiz, making inputting names mandatory (so I can see
who is struggling, and who already understands the concept. I will be at the front of the class, available for
any and all questions/issues that arise. I will try to keep this as a short activity, between fifteen and twenty
minutes but will give any and all students who need it the extra time if necessary.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
X Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
X Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
N/A (Provided)
Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
☐ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☐ Yes
☐ X No
Why or why not?
After the activity I will not display correct answers, this activity will solely be for me to see where the students
are in this subject area. As I would like to give it in the first week, I do not want to change any student’s
amount of confidence, but just know what I should focus my teaching into during the beginning of this lesson.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the SRT activity I will
How will the data be used? The data will be saved in my socrative account. The results will help me
determine where my students are in the content area, and where I should begin this lesson. It will
determine if I need to go back into something that should have been done in the previous grade. It will not
be a grade, but for my records only. It will also allow me a chance to differentiate my instruction, after the
results I will move students around into different seats, a stronger student next to someone who may need
help. This will incorporate scaffolding.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. I hope to learn where my students
strengths/weaknesses are, and how I (or a classmate) can help improve them. I hope this activity allows
students to prepare for the lesson to come.
Reflective Practice: Instead of doing the formative quiz on socrative I could have used a different resource,
such as Kahoot to make my lesson more interactive for students, and incorporate a competitive
atmosphere. As it is just meant as an introductory, informative lesson for the teacher, there isn’t much to
enhance the actual lesson plan.
