My Healthy Lifestyle goal will help promote an active lifestyle that I will hopefully maintain
after completing. I’m a healthy 17 year old girl that enjoys going to the gym and lifting, but cannot
find the time. I could stand to lose a few pounds, but that’s not my main focus. My focus is to be
active and happy with who I am. Also, I’m working loosely on improving my diet and making sure
that I’m eating vegetables and fruit more, as well as cutting back on the sugar and processed foods.
I am pushing myself to achieve 90,000 steps per week which is about 12,857 steps each day and
175 active minutes, which is 25 minutes a day. Before starting my Healthy Lifestyle goal I’m lucky
if I get 80,000 steps a week and 140 active minutes. I hope by making this lifestyle change it will
improve my happiness, weight and overall health in the long term.
In order to keep myself on target, I will be tracking my goal progress with my Fitbit Blaze
Fitness tracker that is pictured down below. I wear my tracker all hours of the day and night,
except when I shower or it needs to be charged. My Fitbit is able to accurately track my steps,
active minutes via heart rate monitoring and many more features. I decided to make my goals
based on the week, rather than the day because I’m often working three nights and one whole day
a week when I’m done with school, so I cannot always get in my steps for the day. I go to my local
gym called Bodyworks as much as I can, but between school and working, I don’t find much time to
do so. Each week I try to go to the gym 4 days a week. At least one day a week, I like to lift arms
and mix in some cardio if I have time, another is legs with some abs. Sadly, I have difficulties
running longer distances, doing lower body impact exercises and squating a large amount of
weight due to some knee issues. I do my best to rest when I need to and push myself when I can. I
look forward to pushing myself each week for the next six weeks!

Analysis
10
In conclusion, I’m satisfied with my results over the past six weeks. I have met my step goal
of 90,000 steps a week three out of the six weeks, which the line of best fit shows that it’s on an
upward trend. Six out of six weeks, I met my active minutes goal, and that trend line is also
increasing. Keeping up with my steps was the hardest part, but my active minutes were
surprisingly easy to get. In the past six weeks I also learned how to meal prep for the week with
healthier alternatives than my usual grab and go. I’ve been finding more time to get to the gym
with my busy lifestyle and school, but I do look forward to this summer, where I will have more
time to hit the gym an be more active at work. I love my fitbit and will be continuing to monitor my
physical activity and my overall health.
