The journal article written by Whitman is about the consequences of taking high quantity of salt. The
article aim is to give a wakeup call about the outcome of high salt intake as salt is always vital to human
race.

b) Body (point)

1. High salt intake has been linked to increased blood pressure and a greater risk of heart problems.
2. Can lead to high blood pressure and increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
3. Increased risk of cognitive decline.
4. A bone-thinning disease.
5. Can cause a symptom known as water retention.

The journal article is written for the public. Whitman has developed the article well by supporting his
writing with sufficient amount of research. I believe the article is reader friendly because the writer used
simple language to make the content clearer. The writer’s tone is serious as the he continues to give the
clearer picture consequence of high salt intake. The balanced of the article can be enhanced by the writer
providing recommendation on ways to use natural salt alternative for reducing salt in the diet.
