It is proposed to provide separate bearings for transfer of vertical and lateral loads.
Free POT-PTFE Bearing are proposed to transfer vertical loads from the super structure to sub structure whereas for transfer of
lateral loads Fixed/ guided POT-PTFE bearing is proposed to transfer lateral load.
Free POT-PTFE Bearing shall be designed and manufactured to transfer the vertical loads but allowed to translation and rotation.
Fixed/ guided POT-PTFE bearing shall be designed and manufactured as per IRC :83-Part IV,2014 to transfer lateral loads.
This note pertains to calculation of Vertical loads, Translation-Longitudinal Movement and rotation for free bearings and calculation
of Lateral forces, Translation-Longitudinal Movement & rotation for metallic bearings.
The vertical load and the rotation values are obtained from MIDAS while the values of lateral force and translation are caculated
manually.
The maximum and minimum loads on the bearings are calculated considering the extreme effects of earthquake/ CW LL with
appropriate signs.
The design forces are presented for SLS Rare, ULS Normal Case and ULS Seismic Case.
