 UNIT 3: Be Happy!

 Lesson 1: Showing Feelings (Vocabulary related to feelings and emotions)


 Lesson 2: What’s in a smile? (Vocabulary relates to feelings and emotions/ Gerunds
and Infinitives)
 Lesson 3: Bhutan. Being happy with little (Adjective suffixes. Gerunds and
Infinitives. Present Perfect Continuous)
 Lesson 4: Advantages and Disadvantages (For-and-against essay: Linking words)
 Lesson 5: Does fame makes people happy? (For-and-against essay: Linking words)
 Lesson 6: Written Test
 Lesson 7: Revision of the written test

 Linguistic Content :

 Grammar: Use and form of Present Perfect Continuous: Affirmative, Negative and
Interrogative

Use of Gerunds and Infinitives

 Vocabulary: Showing feelings: Verbs such as “blush”,


“frown”, “gasp”, etc.
Adjectives with different suffixes: Related to feelings and emotions and to
people and places’ traits.
 Functions: Reading, speaking and writing
about feelings and emotions, and actions in the past
emphasising duration
Writing: For-and-against Essay

 Objectives:
That the student should be able to:
-Identify the use and form of Present Perfect
Continuous (Affirmative, Negative, Interrogative)
-Acquire new vocabulary related to feelings and
emotions
-Read texts and answer questions
-Value and respect people´s feelings and emotions
-Respect other cultures

 Methodology:

Warm up:
The teacher is going to start the class with a series of activities,
such as: -Revisions
-Brainstorming
-Predictions based on pictures
-Games
-Talking about herself/her life

Development:

o The teacher is going to provide the students with exercises, to make them
use the vocabulary learnt in class;
-Fill in the blanks
-Reading comprehension activities
-Sentence making
o In order to develop the students speaking skills, the teacher will develop
oral activities (oral questions, conversations)

Conclusion:

The teacher will conclude the class by providing a summary of the class; asking
students what vocabulary can they remember, what did they like about the
topic.

 Evaluation:

- Students are going to be evaluated informally by: participation, behaviour,


paying attention in class, bringing the material.
- Students are going to be evaluated formally through: A written test at the
end of the unit.
