Throughout my high school experience, I was very involved, whether it was academics,

extra-curriculars, volunteerism, or sports. Going into college, I understood the value of getting
heavily involved, but only in a few organizations. I always knew I wanted to be in a sorority, so I
went through recruitment in the fall. Though it was grueling at first and I was unsure about it (it
was a lot different than I thought it would be), I am pretty sure I will stick with it for the rest of
my college years. It is a great way to meet other girls from other colleges and upperclassmen as
well. Though I haven’t found a “best” friend out of it yet, I know I have a support system in
Theta. I also have a “Big,” who I didn’t know until our reveal night, and she has become a great
friend and go-to person. We are very similar, though she is in engineering, and involved in
organizations that I have interest in, too. I wanted to get involved within Lindner, so I can meet
upperclassmen and professionals. I hope to get to know professors as my leadership in
organizations and clubs increases. Lindner Student Association (LSA) is the governing body of
other business organizations. I enjoy having an all-encompassing view of things, so being the
over-arching organization brings must interest to me. LSA leads the career fair as well, with set-
up, volunteers, and revenue. Little did I know, the career fair brings in a hefty profit. Because of
the amount of money LSA has and the governing nature of the organization, it is responsible for
allocating money not only within the organization but to other business organizations. Because I
am a finance major and enjoy the money and math side of things, I wanted to get involved with
the budgeting and allocation of profits and expenses. I was recently elected Treasurer of LSA,
and with that will come a lot of experience and work. I am excited to see what this role will
bring. I went to an all-girls school for a majority of my high-school career. After transferring to a
co-ed school, I never realized how big of an impact the all-girls atmosphere had on me. Going
into college, I knew I wanted co-ed and I knew I would be surrounded by females in my sorority.
But because business is still a male-dominant industry, I find that being surrounded by like-
minded (female business students) would advantageously help me in the coming years. Though
Theta is my social support, Lindner Women in Business (LWiB) is my professional support. I
recently interviewed for the position of Chief Financial Officer, but because of big the
organization has become and my status as a freshman, I unfortunately did not receive the
position. All of the C-Suite positions in LWiB this upcoming cycle will be juniors or seniors. But
instead of finance, I was offered a position in operations, as the Director of Operations. I will be
directly under the Chief Operations Officer, which is the position that overseas all the other C-
Suite positions. The operations side of things has more responsibility than the finance side, so I
am excited to see what this position will entail and what the outlook of the organization will
be…or should I say program. LWiB was recently named a program of Lindner, similar to
Business Fellows, as it works towards measures of diversity and inclusion. We are not 100%
sure on what the impact will be, but we know there will be more support, funding, and
opportunities for LWiB. I thought it would only be fitting to get involved in Finance Club as a
finance major. I am now Director of External Affairs. This club is very small so it will be
interesting to see how membership will be in the coming years. I have also gone to a few
meetings/company visits for Beta Alpha Psi. I know I don’t want to be a CPA, but I still may be
able to have a different role in an accounting firm. The advisor, Molly Rogers, is also wonderful,
so I enjoy meeting and speaking wither her.
I hope to maintain my involvement in most of these organizations for the following years,
especially as many of them have leadership cycles that start in the spring semester (so halfway
through an academic year). I would love to have at least one executive positions in all the
organizations I am involved in, whether that’s in the finance or operations side, or maybe even
president. But we’ll see. I am also applying for SACUB. This would allow me to meet many
other students, undergraduates and graduates, that are in organizations and majors other than
myself. This is also combines my interest for all things money and overall awareness of UC as a
whole and how the general student fees are being allocated. I will also learn more about different
organizations and departments that pitch their budgets to SACUB. Though I heard about SAC
last semester, I was unsure of applying. Now, that I am more familiar with the organization and a
lot of the members and exec team, I plan on applying in the fall semester. This also will connect
be with people outside the business school along with alumni and donors of the University. With
getting to know more people, especially upperclassmen, I have become aware of some honors
organizations on campus. Though I am not familiar with all of them or know exactly what they
entail, I think I would really be able to benefit from the involvement.
On the global side of things, I hope to explore as many countries and cities as possible. I
have caught the travel bug and love to explore whenever I get the chance. I would like to
continue to combine my passion for travel and service with international service trips, whether
that’s with organizations such as Serve Beyond Cincinnati (SBC) or other opportunities. With
the leaderships of SBC this past year, the organization has suffered, so it will be a matter if it will
rebound or if I could somehow take the lead in helping the organization. It would be a lot of
work and time, so it really depends on if there is a need and if I have the ability to make an
impact. I plan on studying and/or interning abroad more than once while I am at UC. Though I
want to see and experience everything, I would love to spend time in Europe (both Eastern and
Western), a bustling city in Asia, Australia, South Africa/Cape Town, and maybe somewhere in
South America (if I pursue a language). So I will have to see how I can get everywhere, but I am
hoping, that combined with vacations, service trips, learning, and work experiences, I will be
able to check most places of my list.
I have been involved in an organization called CancerFree KIDS for the majority of my
life. I have increased my involvement within the nonprofit through various events over the years.
I hope that I will be able to still volunteer and help the organization out, maybe even contributing
my acquired business knowledge in the coming years. Also through Project Impact, I have had
the opportunity to work with and learn more about the Aruna Project. I think it would be
interesting to maintain ties to this budding organization and maybe contribute more time and
business expertise in the coming years. I would love to be a part of something that has helped so
many women in India find a better life.
I recently started working in the President’s Office. It is actually my first job that I have
had while being a student, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out. So far, I really enjoy
the executive assistants I work for, along with the other student workers. Though President Pinto
does not know me by name, I am hoping that will change soon! The office and position is very
flexible, so I plan on working here and there, whenever I can, for most of my college years. I am
also looking into working in the Investment Office of the university in the fall. It depends if I get
a position/how big of a commitment it will be, on deciding whether or not I will continue
working in the President’s Office next semester. Though I will be working at Johnson
Investment Counsel this summer, I don’t plan on working their part time in the fall, even if I
really enjoy it. The commute would take up a lot of time and wouldn’t make it too feasible of an
option. During my sophomore year (spring or summer), I hope to intern at another company. I
am hoping on Delta or something international, but I will have to see if the opportunity arises. In
the coming years, I hope to have two or three more internships/co-ops. Though I don’t know
necessarily what I want to do or what company I want to work with, I hope that I can get out of
the city of Cincinnati and work in another city. Though I have high hopes and aspirations, I
would love to work in New York City or San Francisco. I want to experience and learn as much
as I can as a student, so I have better idea of what I want to do and where I want to go post-
graduation.
