Students will be able to create an infographic defining both the simple and compound
subject and predicate of a complete sentence and describe the steps to write a complete
sentence correctly. *This topic is a constant review for students throughout the year*

 Description and Teacher/Trainer Directions:


1. Ms. Lee will provide students with electronic clickers for an informal assessment
via PowerPoint polling at the end of her review lesson.
2. The class will open by reviewing complete sentences with students via ppt
Complete Sentences Review. At the end students will answer questions using the
clickers as an informal assessment. *ppt includes video *Strengthening Sentences * and turning point
technology*
3. Ms. Lee will inform students that they will create their own infographic using
Piktochart about complete sentences. *students have utilized Piktochart to create infographics in the past
for various assignments this year*
4. Teacher will display example infographic for students to view. complete sentences
infographic
5. Students will turn in clickers and receive a laptop from the laptop cart.
6. Students will log into Edmodo platform to read the instructions ( complete
sentences infographic directions and rubric) uploaded by instructor. The platform
also includes a copy of the example infographic, the PowerPoint reviewed in class,
a link to the YouTube video about strengthening sentences, and a link to the
Piktochart login page.
7. After reading the instructions and reviewing the rubric students will follow the link
to the Piktochart platform to create their infographics.
8. When completed, students will save their infographic and attach it to the Edmodo
platform to turn in.

 Differentiated Instruction :
ESOL students will work in a small group with the ESOL instructor to create one
infographic as a group in the classroom setting.
EIP students will complete their infographic in the small group pull out with the EIP
instructor *EIP instructor will have a copy of instructions and access to the Edmodo platform. Students will take laptops with
them to EIP small group.*
All other students will have to choice of working independently or in pairs.
Students will also have the choice of using any available template on the Piktochart
website to complete the assignment.

 Setting
The instruction and informal assessment will take place in the classroom for all students.
The classroom is set up in groups of four or five and seats up to 30 students. There is also
a computer table with three desktop computers, two small group tables, and a reading
corner. The laptops are retrieved from a movable cart stationed in the classroom. ESOL
students will complete the infographics in the classroom at the small group table in the
back of the classroom with the push in ESOL instructor. The EIP students will complete
the infographics in the EIP classroom trailers. The trailers consist of four tables that seat
eight students each and a desk for the teacher. The remaining students will complete the
infographic task in the classroom as well, with the option of sitting at desks or in the
reading corner.

 Learners:
The learners will be one group at a time from three different blocks. The first block
consists of 11 girls and 13 boys, with two girls and one boy of the ESOL grouping. No
students in this block are EIP grouped. The second block consists of 12 girls and 12 boys,
with three girls and two boys of the ESOL grouping, and one girl and three boys of the
EIP grouping. The third block consists of 14 girls and 10 boys, with 3 boys and 1 girl of
EIP grouping, and no students from this block are grouped with ESOL. The age of
students range from 9-11, and the students vary in ethnicities that include Hispanic,
Asian, African American, and Caucasian. The learning styles vary and include audio,
kinesthetic, and visual learners, with the ability levels varying from proficient to intensive
learners. All students are considered economically disadvantaged because this is a title 1
school. There are no disabled or gifted learners in any of the blocks, and all students are
considered proficient speakers of the English language.
