The Correlation Between Age, Gender and Hypertension with The Prevalence of
Hyperuricemia at Tanjung Brebes Public Health Centre
ABSTRACT
Background : Hyperuricemia is an increase in blood uric acid levels above normal.
Hyperuricemia has always been associated with hypertension as well as age and gender.
Objective : This study aimed to find out the relation between age, gender and hypertension with
the prevalence of hyperuricemia in Puskesmas Tanjung Kabupaten Brebes.
Method : This was an analytical study with a cross section design. There were 70 people as
samples. Data were obtained by questioner and by measuring the uric acid, blood pressure,
glucose and body mass index. The data were analyzed with chi square and regression logistic.
Result : The results showed that most respondents were female with the mean of age was 50 year
and there was some significant relation between age (p=0.000), gender (p=0.02) and
hypertension (p=0.001) with hyperuricemia.
Conclusion : there was a significant correlation between age, gender and hypertension with
hyperuricemia, and hypertension.
Keywords : age, gender, hypertension, hyperuricemia, uric acid
hiperurisemia.
Kata Kunci : usia, jenis kelamin, hipertensi, hiperurisemia, asam urat.
