Anticipatory Set

- Introduce and model Preview activity

- Partner Check: activities you do with others

Procedures

o Draw pictures of two different activities that students do with family and others
- Class return to carpet (10 min)
o People who have things in common and/or that do activities together are part of
a group.

o Pick 3 students who have something in common (ex: striped shirts)
o Have the other students silently raise their hands if the think they belong to the
group and remind them not to blurt out the common factor of the group if they
know it.

Co-teaching
Which model(s) will be used?
- One Teach, One Assist
- One Teach, One Observe

Why did you choose this model(s) and what are the teachers’ roles?
I chose these models because the whole group instruction will provide all students with
consistent information and give them the opportunity to share their ideas and drawings with
others. They will also have time to work on displaying their ideas and experiences
individually. One teach, one assist/observe is the most effective co-teaching model for this
particular lesson because it will support the whole-group instruction and help the class
complete the preview activity and interactive group game successfully.

Closure/Transition
- What are some things that people have in common?
o Interests/hobbies, talents, clothing, participation in activities, where they live,
age, etc.

Assessment

- Student completion of Preview activity worksheet and ability to share activities they do
with others.
- Observation of student discussion and participation during whole-group instruction
time.
- Students’ abilities to identify what makes a group a group.
