SPEAK ANTICIPATION GUIDE

Part I: Before reading Speak, in the “Before” column, respond to each statement by putting a plus sign
(+) if you agree with it, a minus sign (-) if you disagree, and a question mark (?) if you are unsure of your
belief.

Part II: Choose two of the statements below and respond in detail, using PARAGRAPH form.
(Remember a paragraph should be at least 5-7 sentences). Explain why you have the opinion that
you do. Include real-life examples or other supports. Points depend on both the quantity and quality of

GRADING RUBRIC

90- Student chooses and responds to two statements, meets


100% the sentence requirement, and provides multiple real
world connections to their explanation. Little to no
grammatical errors are present.
85%- Student attemps to answer the quesiton, but
80% demonstrates a basic comprehension level. Student
does not meet the 5-7 sentence
expectation. Explanation does not explicity tie in to their
answer. Few grammatical errors are present.
75%- Students demonstrates a limited understanding of the
70% materials. Multiple grammatical errors and the student
does not meet the sentence expectations.
