CHAPTER-1
AIM OF THE PROJECT
The main objective of this project is to develop a wireless notice board that will be used by the
faculty in order to display latest information at its respected institutions. Wireless electronics
notice board is developed as user friendly notice board with wireless concept that offers the
flexibility to control the notice board within range of GSM Communication System. To reduce
the messy wiring of earlier electronic wired model. To increases speed of communication. To
promote the reusability of existing design and decrease the area required which will manage the
cost factor. As engineer’s main aim is to make life simple with help of technology, this is one
step to simplify real time noticing. The main aim is to reduce the paper work and save our time.

INTRODUCTION
Now-a-days advertisement is going digital. The big shops and the shopping centers use digital
displays now. Also, in trains and buses the information like platform number, ticket information
is displayed in digital boards. People are now adapted to the idea of the world at its finger-tips.
The use mobile phones have increased drastically over years. Control and communication has
become important in all the parts of the world. This gave us the idea to use mobile phones to
receive message and then display it on an electronic board. The GSM technology is used. GSM
stands for Global System for Mobile Communication. Due to this international roaming
capability of GSM, we send can message to receiver from any part of the world. It is has the
system for SMS Short Message Service.
This project is a remote notice board with a GSM modem at the receivers end. So, if the user
wants to display any message, he can send the information by SMS and thus update the LCD
display accordingly. As engineer’s main aim is to make life simple with help of technology, this
is one step to simplify real time noticing.

DETAILS OF WORK ALREADY DONE

Notice Board is common information sharing medium in any institution or any public place like
bus stations, railway stations and amusement parks. But putting on various notices day in and
day out is time consuming. Additional man power is required to take care of this notice display
board. This paper deals with an advanced electronic wireless notice board. Electronic notice
board is a common device that is used to display information. The information or messages are
displayed using LCD’s and Graphical LCD’s. The wireless system for LCD’s is a method using
Radio Frequency as transmission medium. The system consists of two modules: transmitter and
receiver. The transmitter module is used by a user to place a message through an input module
PC/Mobile. The information is then transmitted using GSM technology to the receiver. It then
will be decoded and displayed on electronic notice board.
The global system for mobile communication was initially developed in the European
Telecommunication Standard Institute, which depicts protocol for second generation of digital
cellular communication system that has gradually worldwide gain and market share. It has
become the de facto for global mobile communication system with more than 80% market share.
GSM standard system has developed a replacement for first generation analog cellular networks
and described digital, circuit-switched network optimized for full duplex voice telephony. The
architecture and advanced services of GSM have made it a model for third generation digital
cellular system. In today’s scenario GSM network is widely used for calling or SMS. Sometimes
the places like in college, railway stations, share market needs urgent notices which should be in
real time. There is a need of real time notice display. This paper is about to explain a GSM based
electronic notice display system which we can be used to replace current programmable
electronic display. It is about to write the message in the mobile and send it as SMS to other side
of electronic notice board.

On the basis of latest research on this topic these further changes were implemented:
 The programming in microcontroller is written in embedded C language.
 The compiler is used to compile the program is Aurdino IDE.
 The compiler used to convert the high level language into hex code for burning into flash
memory of Node MCU using Aurdino IDE.
 Raspberry PI can also be used as an efficient micro-controller as it provides more features
for the project but it would raise the cost.

CHAPTER-3

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT

The significance of the project is to provide the following benefits:

 The very effective and substantial improvement will be to adapt multiple receiver GSM
modems at distinct position in the geographical area which carries duplicate SIM card.
 Another variation can be added is multilingual display for this system.
 The alphanumeric LCD’s carrying the limitation on size and number of characters would
be able to replace with large LED boards.
 The commercial model should be able to display more than one message at the same
time.
 Robotics technology can be controlled in a similar fashion by sending the commands to
the robots.
 Temperature display during periods wherein no message buffers are empty is one such
theoretical improvement that is well possible.
 Another very interesting and significant improvement would be to accommodate multiple
receiver MODEMS at different positions in the geographical area carrying duplicate SIM
cards.
 Multilingual display can be another added variation in the project. We can able to store
messages for long time by using SD memory card.
