The Apostolic Church will undergo commercial sachet and bottled drinking water production
to support Ghana’s domestic demand and consumption for quality drinking water, coupled with
the production of the plastic bottles (pre-form) from its third year to meet the growing need of
the water production industry. It require an initial outlay of Gh₵75,300.00 as total setup cost
and a personal investment of Gh₵25,000.00, necessitating a maximum loan of Gh₵48,500.00

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Apostolic Church - Ghana will undergo commercial sachet, bottled drinking water
production to support Ghana’s domestic water demand and consumption for quality drinking
water, coupled with the production of the plastic bottles (pre-form) from its third year to meet the
growing need of the water production industry.

QUALITY DRINKING WATER


Demand for Quality drinking water has been growing rapidly since 1980s, increasing nearly 400%
in the last decade according to the council of Bottled Water Manufacturers, as a result of declining
consumer confidence in safety and quality of municipal water supplies.

To take advantage of this expanding market for drinking water, the Apostolic Church-Ghana
Water Company Ltd will be established to supply home, funeral and other events and office
delivery of bottled water to the Winneba and Swedru areas. After periods of extensive industry
and market research, the company has developed a solid business plan to enter the market for
sachet, bottled and dispensary water.

Advanced world solution company Ltd will generate revenue as a result for the delivery of the
three types of water, pure sachet water, distilled drinking water in bottles, and purified drinking
water in 5 - gallon bottles

MANAGEMENT TEAM
Roland Richard Acquaah is the owner and chief executive officer of Advance world solution
bringing years of experience in water bottling and delivery to the company.

Two key managers will be appointed to assist in the operation and expansion of the company that’s
the operations manager and the business Administrator/Marketing Manager. There will also be a
route driver, an extremely important position as the primary customer contact. In addition, two
commission sales associate will be hired to secure new customers and other factory hands.

MANUFACTURING
Advance world solution Ltd will be doing the bottling of the water, and store them until they are
needed by our customers, as well as accepting empty bottles, cleaning them, and refilling them for
reuse.

By using free trials to entice consumers to install their water coolers, Advance world solution will
quickly establish a customer base the free trail offer will be advertised through a variety of media
and will be promoted at trade shows and mall events.

The marketing budget of 3,000.00 will enable the company to quickly capture a large percent of
potential market. All funding for marketing activities will be generated from the business as

MARKET SUMMARY
The water supplies in the central region (Winneba & Swedru) are still in high demand for sachet
and bottled water. The market for quality drinking water has been growing rapidly since the 2000s.

POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS
Because delivered sachets and Bottled water is relatively inexpensive, virtually any household can
afford to have a water cooler in their home. There are a lots of businesses in Swedru and Winneba,
especially Swedru there are more offices, events and government institutions that demand either
sachets and bottled water daily, weekly, monthly and annually.

In response, individuals and businesses are purchasing quality drinking water for use in their
homes, and offices free of contaminants and government monitored sachets and bottled water
derived from protected springs or wells are produced by purifying and processing water from
public water supplies.

SIZE OF THE MARKET


According to Ghana population and housing census for the year 2000, Winneba municipal has a
population of 169,972 people and that of Agona municipal with a population of 160,000. So it
means the market size for water is big enough for Advance World Solutions to penetrate.

COMPETITION
There is currently sachet water distributors listed in the Winneba and Swedru catchment areas.
However, only few companies are actively engaged in home and office delivery of drinking water.

The largest competitors are:

According to the Ghana sachet and bottled water producers Association in Central Region,
“companies in total control are just 5% of the potential market for sachet and bottled water”. In
fact, all have stated by phone that they constantly have more orders for water delivery than they
can handle, indicating strong demand for bottled and sachet water that has overrun the capacity of
companies already in the market.

E-works of U.S.A in 1988, “more than 60% of consumers questioned about their purchase of
bottled waters claimed “taste” was the primary reason for buying bottled water. Other reasons cited
were safely and concerns about “too” many chemicals in tap water”. All our competitors are not
into bottled water supply so Advance world solution Ltd drinking water has a very wide
consumption rate in its segmented market.

GROWTH RATE
The sachet and bottled water industry as a whole has been growing at a rate of 12-15% annually
since the 1990s. The brief history of sachet water which follows was pieced together through
interviews with sachet producer’s official at the Ghana plastic manufacturers Association and
Ghana Water Company Ltd officials.

In the 1970s and 1980s, it was to be able to buy a cup of drinking water on the streets of Accra for
one(1) Ghana pesewa (100 Ghana pesewas (Gp)=1 Ghana cedi. The purchaser drank directly form
a plastic cup or metal cup, which the vender used to scoop water out of a larger storage vessel.
This form of water entrepreneurship was aimed at poor, transient population segments but
eventually demand grew beyond this demographic.

Increased demand coupled with the obvious sanitary short comings of such a system led to the
packaging of water in small bags in the 1990s. These small bags tied by the corners at the top
generally cost Gp 1-3 for a bag containing 250-500ml of water. Hygiene remained an issue. In the
late 1990s, new Chinese machinery that heat-sealed water in plastic sleeve effectively created the
modern sachet that is currently sold on the streets of several West African Countries (Source:
Ghana plastic manufacturers Association).

Both sachet and bottled water sales increased 15.8% from February 1994 to February 1995
indicating a market rebound from the single digits growth of the late 1990s. From 2013, demand
for home delivery of bottled and sachet water is expected to be approximately 12.2% with
commercial distribution growing at a rate of 10.2% per year according to the report on West
African sachet and bottled water producers Association 2008.

CONSUMPTION
Per capital consumption of sachet and bottled water in West Africa is also increasing dramatically,
rising form 4.5 gallons per person in 2008 to 8.0 per gallons per person just five years later in
2013.

Approximately 1out of every 6 households currently consumes non - quality drinking water as a
source of drinking water. In addition, only 1% of the water being bought into a household is used
for drinking, washing, bathing etc.

DELIVERY OF WATER
The Association of sachet and bottled water manufacturers West Africa divides the distribution
channels into retail, commercial delivery, home delivery, restaurant purchase and vending.

While retail purchase accounts for the largest percentage of sachet and bottled water purchase

(41.5%) 21.3% if sales are made through commercial delivery of water and 21.4% are through

home delivery sales. The percentage of the industry that relies on water deliveries for its water is
42.7%, the largest percentage of all.

COST
In Ghana the average price for a bag of sachet water delivery is GH¢ 1.80 and that of small bottled
water in a box is GH¢ 24.00. An informal poll of local Winneba and Swedru distributors showed
that the average price in the area was also approximatelyGH¢1.80 per bag of sachet water and
bottled water per carton is GH¢ 24.00. which is what advance World Solution Ltd intends to
charge.

Advance World Solution Ltd will manufacture empty water bottles(pre-form) at cost GH¢ 0.25 of
and sells them to other water manufacturers for revenue GH¢ 0.50 per each bottle manufactured,
generating profit for the company from other manufacturers of water in the long-term.

SUPPLIERS
The association of pure water producers, Ghana reports that there are approximately 50%
registered sachet water producers and 10 bottled water manufacturers in Ghana producing more
than 700 different brand labels.

BUSINESS DESCRIPTION
Advance world solution Ltd is limited liability company registered and incorporated under Ghana
companies code 1963(Act179). The company produces sachets, bottled water and pre-form bottles
for other water companies in the Ghanaian community.

CORPORATE STRUCTURE
Advance world solutions ltd was establish in the year 2014. Roland Richard Acquaah owns 100%
of the stock of the company. “Yes Quality Drinking Water”. The trade name is in the process of
being registered and the product logo is being finalized for imprinting on the sachets and bottles

OPERATIONS
Spring, distilled and purified drinking waters will be the sachet and bottled by the company itself
who will fill the sachet and bottles labeled with the Advance world solution logo. The refillable
bottles will be collected from customers when empty and returned to the bottler bi-weekly for
cleaning and refilling.

PERSONAL INVESTMENT
Roland Richard Acquaah has already invested over Gh¢5,000 of his personal funds during the last
year in order to thoroughly research the Ghana sachets and bottled water industry and verify

incorporate, register the trademark and finalize the company business plan.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Advance world solution offers home, office and other events delivery of quality drinking waters
as well as water bottle preforms, the Advance World Solution Ltd label.

DRINKING WATER
The company offers three types of water in the sachets and bottles:

PURE SPRING WATER


Pure spring water is collected form protected springs and wells and contains no contaminants or
additives. Consequently, it is considered to have the best taste of all drinking waters.

DISTILLED DRINKING WATER


Water is purified by a process of reverse osmosis where the water is forced under pressure through
membranes which removes 90% of the dissolved minerals. Water is delivered in sachets and
bottles made of plastic. Advance world solutions ltd the only water company in the Central Region
area to offer a special new handle that makes lifting and refilling bottles and sachets much easier.
Eventually the company intends to offer smaller 2-and3-gallon bottles of water.

PREFORMING BOTTLES
Advance world solutions will offer a variety of water bottles for sales to its customers (other
manufacturing water companies) base including big size, medium size and smaller size bottles.

ADVANTAGES OF WATER DELIVERY


While many consumers choose to purchase sachet and bottled water at provisional shops, road
sides and grocery store in small 1- or 2-gallon bottle and sachet, home, offices and other events
delivery water is increasing in popularity for several reasons:

Convenience-instead of having to lug heavy, bulky bottles and bags of sachet water all the way
from the provisional grocery store home delivery personnel bring longer-lasting, right inside
homes and offices.

Customer service-if there is ever a problem with the water bottles and sachet, Advance world
solutions arrives quickly to replace it, taking the faulty bottles and sachets water back to the
warehouse.

Monthly billing- instead of weekly trips to the stores, offices and homes, customers receive a
single monthly bill based on the quantity of bottles consumed.

HOME EVENTS VERSE OFFICE DELIVERY


Advance world solution anticipates that approximately 50% of its deliveries will be to homes, 20%
to events and 50% to offices.

MARKETING STRATEGY
In order to effectively and quickly build its customer base, Advance world solution intends to
aggressively promote its free trial program. Offering new customers the use of a company empty
bottle and sachets water for a period 28days free of charge and includes two free bottles of water.

In addition, the company will implement a variety of other marketing methods beyond the free
trial; Advance world solution will quickly achieve a competitive advantage.

MARKETING METHODS
Free trials
Through research done by the company, this marketing approach has been found to be extremely
effective in enticing consumers to try sachets and bottled water and to become used to having
customers find it most convenience to sell to customers.

Advance world solution will contact free trial customers two weeks after the sachet and bottled
water have been placed in their home or office, when the two free sachets and bottles of water have
most likely been emptied and offer them an incentive.

ADVERTISING
Advance world solution intends to advertise its free trail offers by way of radio (secured through
cross-promotion deals or barter arrangements), door hangers, and advertise in coupon packages.
Existing competitors do not currently invest in advertising, leaving the market wide open to
Advance world solutions.

Post cards offering a 30-day free trail will also be mailed to homes and businesses I selected zip

BUDGET
An annual marketing budget of GH¢25,000 has been established for the first year of operation,
based on a calculations of 10% of first year sales of GH¢128,498. This funding will be generated

OPERATING PLAN
Spring, distilled, and purified drinking waters are scaled and bottled by Advance world solutions.
Fill the sachets and bottles labeled with the Advance world solution slogs. The plastic refillable
bottles will be collected from customers when empty and returned to the bottler bi-weekly for
cleaning and refilling.

Nylon material is preferred as the sachet packaging because it is convenient, high and strong.
Plastic is also preferred as the bottle packaging because it is high weight, unbreakable, and
inexpensive to produce and ship.

LOCATION
The company will operate from approximately 15960.48 square feet of land in New Winneba
area with a portion of that space being set aside for office space and warehousing activities.
Advance World Solutions is currently working in a good relationship with the community
members.

DELIVERIES
It is expected that the route delivery person will make 124bags and 75 boxes per week or 500bags
a month and 300 boxes per month of water. One delivery person will be needed at the start and an
additional delivery person will be added when the number of monthly deliveries exceeds the plan
quantities.

FUTURE PLANS FOR BOTTLING


Once advance World Solution achieves a customer’s base of 7000 or deliveries of 1000 bags of
water and 600 boxes of bottles per month, the company will begin to investigate investing in
equipment to manufacture sachet rubbers in-house. An investment of approximately GH¢10,000
would be needed in order to purchase the sachets pre-form equipment.

MANAGEMENT AND STAFFING


CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Roland Richard Acquaah has been involved in the water industry virtually all his life. From an
early age, he sold and delivered iced-water to local residents in Agona-Swedru. This experience
familiarized him with all aspects of production, delivery, marketing, accounting and collections.

Since moving to New-Winneba, Mr. Roland Richard Acquaah has carefully researched the
opportunity to start a similar sachets and bottled water business in the area. As a member of Rotary
Club Ghana, Mr. Roland has the opportunity to network with and learn form successful business
owners in the Agona – Swedru and Winneba area and on a national basis.

MARKETING MANAGER
Mabel Afia Adoma Quarshie(Mrs): In addition to developing a strategy for entering the market
by purchasing needed equipment and supplies, she has already identified competitors who will
need plastic bottles for their productions and has invested funds to trademark the name and logo
associated with “Advance World Solution sachets and bottled water.

She will continue to manage all strategic planning, marketing; staffing and accounting activities
experienced or encountered in the sachets and bottled water industry.

His involvement in the association of water producers in Ghana will keep him well-informed of
market changes and opportunities. The Food Drugs Board Authority of Ghana is in the process of
certifying “Yes” quality drinking water as a company.

MANAGEMENT TEAM
Mr. Roland has secured commitments from two experienced and talented individuals who will be
responsible for daily operations and for delivery of the water. Mabel Afia Adoma Quarshie(Mrs)
will assume responsibility for training sales representatives and rout delivery personnel
implementing the company’s marketing plan, and delivery as required to new customers. The
driver will serve as the key link between Advance World Solutions and its customers.

company, Mr Alexander Acquaah has been invited to join the Advance World Solutions

Advance World Solutions will hire four (4) sales people who will focus on placing new quality
drinking water in offices and homes. In return for each new placement the sales person will receive
an amount equal and they will be paid GH¢500 every month, after the customer has completed the
free trial period and has committed to the bottled and sachet water. It is expected that the sales
people should be able to make at least 20% sales per day.

FACTORY HANDS, CLEANER AND SECURITY


The company will hire three (3) factory hands to help in the operations of the water. They will also
consider one (1) cleaner and security personnel who will also help in their diverse ways to achieve
the goals of the company.

TRUCK DRIVER
Advance World Solutions will also hire a driver who will help to deliver the products to the
customers notwithstanding, the raw materials for production which will be conveyed by the truck.

FUNDS NEEDED AND THEIR USES


In order to start and establish Advance World Solutions sachet and bottle water as a leading
supplier of quality sachet and bottled drinking water, funding is required in the amount of Gh₵
