DRUG DOSAGES IN ACUTE ASTHMA DRUG FORMULATION DOSAGE Beta 2 Agonist : Nebuliser solution 0.15 mg/kg/dose (max 5 mg) or Salbutamol ( Ventolfin ) 5 mg/ml or 2.5 mg/ml <2 years old : 2.5 mg/dose >2 years old : 5.0 mg/dose Continuous : 500 meg/ke/hr Intravenous Bolus Terbutaline ( Bricany! ) Nebuliser solution 5-10 meg/kg over 10 min. Infusion Start 0.5 — 1.0 meg/kg/min Increased 1.0 meg/kg/min Every 15 min to a maximum of 20 meg/kg/min 0.20.3 mg/kg/dose or <20 kg : 2.5 mg/dose 10 mg/ml or 2.5 mg/ml > 20 kg : 5.0 mg/dose Parenteral 5 — 10 meg/kg/dose 0.25 — 1.5 mg/dose Steroids: 1. Prednosolone. Oral 1-2 mg/kg/day in divided doses (for 3 - 7 days) 2. Hydrocortisone Intravenous 4-5 mg/kg/dose 6 hourly 3.
