RULES AND REGULATIONS INSIDE THE FACULTY OF PHARMACY ANIMAL HOUSE

1. Each group should monitor the test animals inside the animal house.
2. Each group will be given eight test animals. No replacement of test animals (in case of
death or loss of rodents). The available number of test animals for each group will be
use for the entire semester.
3. Cage tags and log sheets will be available. Fill-out necessary information.
4. Cages will be assigned per group of the class. Proper cleaning and sanitizing of the cages
must be exercised. Cleaning of the cages and test animals and changing of the beddings
should be conducted once a week. Schedules of the cleaning and sanitizing will be
provided to each class sections to avoid crowding.
5. Follow the direction of the course facilitators. If the experiment required fasting,
remove all the food containers and the beddings prior the activity.
6. Always supply water and food to test animals.
7. Sources of test animals, pellets and beddings must come from the accredited stores
(veterinary clinics and shops).
8. Wear complete laboratory apparels inside the animal house.
9. No visits on Sundays.
10. The food and water should be ideally supplied in one-week basis in preparation to
sudden class suspensions.
11. Bringing out the cages from the animal house is not allowed. Use transport cages to
execute the transfer of test animals to laboratory premises.
12. Observe cleanliness inside the animal house.
13. In case of untimely death of test animals, it should be reported to the technician in the
animal house. A member from the group must fill-out the Death and Disposition Record.
14. Should the students wish to retain their test animals after the semester, a member must
fill-out the animal adoption section of the Death and Disposition Record.
15. If violations are identified, appropriate sanctions will be given to the whole section.
