KEY POINTS
What three to five key points will you emphasize?
1. Everyone has creative ideas to share with the world.
2. We all struggle with confidence around actually making those ideas come true.
3. We can also overcome those fears and give those ideas in our imagination a try!
4. We will journal our ideas and share them.
5. We will execute our creative ideas during choice/project time!
Formative Assessment for this portion of the lesson: observations and anecdotal data
collection
GUIDED PRACTICE (8 min.)
(Consider: How will you clearly state and model behavioral expectations?
How will you ensure that all students have multiple opportunities to practice?
How will you scaffold practice exercises from easy to hard? How will you monitor and
correct student performance? Why will students be engaged/interested?)
The guided practice is scattered throughout the actual read-aloud as we pause to Read along
discuss various parts of the story throughout however at the end we will discuss the video What
following as a group and have a few students share out: What creative ideas do you do you do
have? What makes you worried about making them come true? How can we help? with an
Idea?
Formative Assessment for this portion of the lesson: continued observations and
anecdotal note taking
INDEPENDENT PRACTICE (30 min.)
(Consider: How will you clearly state and model behavioral expectations?
In what ways will students attempt to demonstrate independent mastery of the
objective? How will you provide opportunities for extension? Why will students be
engaged/interested?)
Children will independently practice planning for their creative, imaginative and Journals
innovative ideas in their journals. They will journal about an idea they have that they
want to begin as a project in the classroom (or outside of) and then share it with me. Art Materials
They can begin immediately or take some time to reflect on their plan and start another
day.

anecdotal note taking
CLOSING (5 min.)
(Consider: How will students summarize what they learned?
How will students be asked to state the significance of what they learned?
How will you provide all students with opportunities to demonstrate mastery of (or
progress toward) the objective?
Why will students be engaged/interested?)
During choice/project time during the next few days I’ll be checking in with each child
about their journal entries of their imaginative and creative ideas and how they’ve done
executing them in the classroom during choice/project time. For any students
struggling I’ll be sure to spend more time with them to keep them on track.
