Beginning the Lesson

5 Preparation for learning:


mins The teacher will prepare the class for the lesson by reminding them of procedures (calling
their attention, asking or answering questions, etc…)

5 Overview:
mins The teacher will give an overview of the new unit, and of the lesson explaining what we
will do for the entire class time. Teacher will also give a background on what
measurement is and how it is connected to the central idea: Communities are organized to
meet people’s needs.

5 Brainstorm:
mins The teacher will ask the students to brainstorm together on what is essential in a
community, then from there, connect it to Measurement (Geography)

Developing the Lesson
