Hyperbole / Understatement Writing

Assignment:
Part 1: Use hyperbole in a narrative. Your
purpose is to either reveal the
stresses/hardships of big city life OR to
reveal the problems of small town life.
(This should take up approximately
the front of one page)
Part 2: Use understatement in a narrative
for the purpose of politely/tactfully
describing an extremely undesirable
person OR for downplaying a horrible,
serious, grave situation in order to
maintain calm.
(This can be a little shorter, but at
least half of the back of your page)
