Learning Outcome:

- Students will be able to generate questions from graphs.


- Students will be able to answer question about graphs.

Sugar paper – markers – tally charts – barographs. Make sure that each group has a barograph, a tally chart,
and sugar paper.

Opening (warmer activity + teacher introduction/demonstration of small group activities)

- First, I will ask the student about their previous lessons, then I will ask them to tell me what they
think we will do today.
- I will introduce the LO using an a4 paper with the LO written on it.
- Then I will practice with them counting the numbers on a tally chart and on a barograph, to
demonstrate how to collect data.
- After that I will ask them to tell me two questions about the charts, and how will we know the

- I will explain what they are going to do for the activity, then I will tell them to spread out in the class.

Questions I may ask:

1- What is a tally chart?


2- What is a barograph?
3- What questions can we write?
4- What did you learn last lesson?

The class will all have the same activity, only different charts and data.

Guided Experience (group working with the teacher)

- This group will be working with me on the carpet.


- We will look at charts about favorite subjects.
Small Group

- Then we will write 4 questions using the data from the charts.
Time:

Once the group finishes we can swap posters with other groups to answer their questions.

Independent experience

- This group will be working without the teacher’s help.


- they will look at charts about favorite travel destination.
- Then we will write 5 questions using the data from the charts.

Once the group finishes they can swap posters with other groups to answer their questions.

Independent experience

- This group will be working without the teacher’s help.


- they will look at charts about favorite animated movies.
- Then we will write 5 questions using the data from the charts.

Closing
Time:5-7 mins
Whole Group

For the closing I will gather all the students back to carpet, then I will choose two groups to show their
questions and talk about what they did.

Assessment

I will use the thumbs up, shaky thumbs, thumbs down strategy to see who is getting the idea and who needs to
work on it a little bit more. And I will let them put a Green, red, or yellow circle on their posters to know if it was
easy, hard, or tricky.
