WASTE WATER MANAGEMENT
What Industries seek in wastewater management ?

• Maximum reduction in the effluent quantity generation.

• Environmental compliance.
• Generation of reusable water, if possible also revenue
generation.
• Minimum CAPEX & OPEX
• Minimum Footprint
SETTING UP ETP !!
WHAT EXPERT’S NEED TO LOOK INTO - SELECTION CRITERIA

▪ Life cycle cost

This includes installation costs and operation costs, which are usually capitalized over
the life of the project to provide a common basis for comparing different options.
▪ Cost-effectiveness
Expressed as a unit cost to provide a basis for comparing different options (Rs./m3). For
example, economies of scale often reduce the unit cost of treating wastewater but are
not necessarily cost-effective if wastewater flows are not high enough to allow the
technology to perform optimally.
▪ Reliability
Measure of how well a system performs in relation to expectations without breakdowns
or failure to treat wastewater to meet water quality objectives. Reliability also is
associated with simplicity of operation and ease of maintenance. Reliable systems that
require highly skilled operators and careful maintenance would be less appropriate.
▪ Simplicity
Simplicity of operation and ease of maintenance. This is highly desirable for ETP’s
designed for SMEs.
▪ Performance
Measured in terms of percent removal or may be expressed as typical treated effluent
concentrations required to meet water quality objectives

▪ Ability to meet water quality objectives

A primary screening criterion. Any system that is not able to meet water quality objectives
does not need to be considered any further.

▪ Adaptability to change in influent quality

This is a very important criterion for ETPs designed for SMEs because wastewater quality tends
to be more variable than for conventional municipal wastewater treatment.

▪ Adaptability to varying flow rate.

This is an important criterion for CETPs designed for SMEs, if the industries involved have highly
varying flow rates.

Case Study: Excel Crop Care Ltd, Bhavnagar
Excel Crop care Ltd, Bhavnagar is in Gujarat where there is scarcity of water. In order to solve their
irrigation needs, Shroff family has came up with the solution for pumping sewage water from city
sewage nala for further treatment and reuse. ECCL has taken permission from municipal corporation for
extraction of city sewage from nala. Transchem has treated pumped sewage with our transBio-filter and
given the desired output for their process & irrigation needs. Earlier they were buying water from
external sources. Now they find self sustainable solution. They have got the following advantages:

➢ Reduces the existing load of sewage treatment from municipal treatment facility
➢ Conversion of city sewage in to useful Bio-nutritional Products
➢ No dependency on external sources
➢ Getting the required amount of treated water for their Process and Gardening use
➢ Fully automatic sewage treatment plant, Fully operational since last 5 years
➢ Low Capital investment, Low treatment and operation Cost, Low Maintenance
➢ No Chemical Uses in entire transBio-Filter system
➢ They are getting enough Bio-compost in every 3-8 months
➢ Worm Tea for plant nutrition and Growth along with Healthy Earthworms
➢ Revenue from sales of Bio-compost, Earthworms, Worm Tea, Worm Meal
